The Rosenberg vineyard is Jakoby’s top site. Annual production of all wine from this estate is only 4000 cases. This wine comes from a lesser known area of the Mosel valley. Paired with Korean bbq. I thought the sweetness, acidity and fruit were all in good balance in this wine. Moderate petrol aromas on the nose. Notes of pears, honey and tropical fruit. 89 points.
Wide range of citrus fruits, herbal, salinity and loads of electricity and acidic structure. A very long finish. This will for sure just keep on getting even better.
Opened to cook with (splash of wine added to sauteed fennel, shallots, garlic, cherry tomatoes, thyme with seared king salmon drapped over and finished in oven) and dang - it is good! More later.
I posed the glass in front of paper towels so you could see color as my kitchen tile is gray/green and i thought wine color might look funny in front of it.
Arrived in the Mosel a bit knackered as always after 1000km on the road and a stop to taste with Emilien Feneuil.
2007 Grunhaus Bruderberg QbA, was lovely after a bit of stink blew off. Carl Von Schubert likes to serve these mature wines (usually a good bit older) blind and always surprises the audience with the quality. Just off dry, 9.5%. Mature but still with some upside.
2021 Clemens Busch Rothenpfad GG was so fresh and young, herbal and intense. Nice to try now. Glad to save a bit for a few days too.
Nice to try two totally contrasting Rieslings from a list for barely €100 the pair.
