What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

Have enjoyed n.353, 354 & 355’s. If anyone in SOCAL wants to unload some inventory, I would be interested in purchasing. Please dm. Thanks.

2019 de Négoce Meritage OG N.195
Only had two bottles of this one. Had the first a year ago with friends and it seemed muted, but tonight’s the night! Had a mid-level red Bordeaux last night that was void of any mid-palate impressions, but this Merlot-based blend has opened nicely, hits all the right notes. Well-balanced, black fruit-forward. Very nice bottle. Definitely ready to PnP!

Thursday evening Warrior game Chris brings what? A Syrah! Matched next to a 24 yr old Gran Reserva Rioja. This younger wine held it’s own.

  • 2019 de Négoce Syrah OG N.223 - USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley (2/27/2025)
    Decanted just prior to drinking.
Nose: More red fruit spectrum here. Plums and raspberry. Mostly as described in write up- more Northern Rhone like here.
Color: Dark in BDX glass, not nearly opaque like many Syrahs. again more Rhone like than Ca.
Palate: More body here than a northern Rhone wine. Nice mouthfeel, polished finish. Medium plus length with gentle but firm tannins. $12 a bottle is a real deal. Should get better with more bottle time. (89 points)

OG N.22 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet

Bottle 3 of 6, 4.5+ years bottled. Into the decanter 3 hours before serving.
This excellent CS is now opening up to reveal very succulent and complex dark mountain fruits!
Tonight it shows with mild acidity that is balanced out with plenty of Tannins from grapes and Oak. Puts fur on my tongue/mouth and stained the decanter. 2 “Efferdent” tablets, to the rescue.
Excellent now, this will likely get even more awesome with additional cellar time. It’s at least double yummy now :wine_glass: :wine_glass: + . Said to be Robert Craig (another very nice one)! Drink now or later.

Friday evening dinner:

  • 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.43 - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/28/2025)
Double decanted back into bottle 30 mins prior to serving with steak dinner.
Consistent with last notes from last December, although finish was a bit better.
Nose: Cassis, dark cherry with a touch of soy.
Color: Dark crimson and opaque in BDX stem.
Palate: Dark plums turned earth picking up a bit of pyrazine now.
Medium plus finish, gripping tannins to accompany some racy acidity for a Napa Cabernet. Old school Cab. Hold for 2+ years or drink now. (90 points)

From a de Négoce November 2022 bottling offer of three different Zinfandels [Four each, Lots 362 RR, 363 Alexander Valley, 364 RR], I choose the middle selection for yesterday’s outdoor, fireside wine tasting. While there are those that exclaim dN pairing reactions w/grilled game hen, prawn scampi, hot dogs ‘n chili beans, prime tri-tip, cod or salmon, pot roasts, Korean bulgogi marinated flanked beef ribs, portabella mushroom burgers, curried chicken, rack of lamb, ravioli, pork chops, rib eye, picanha steak (Coulotte) and even carne asada tacos, ~ I’ll just relate this Lot 363 SVD Alexander Valley 2019 Zinfandel event was held being surrounded by thousands of pink, white, lavender and almost red magnolia blooms blowing softly with promises of Spring.

What a deceptive, delicately bright ruby color is found in this light-to-medium bodied Zinfandel. Incorporating a balance of tannins, acid and fruit, it projects overtones of moderately bold cranberry flavors. We found this to be enjoyable now with no promises of developing much further. Not bad for an $11 dN wine from the recent past. 88 pts / B+

N. 68 to the rescue last night, after a corked 2003 Almaviva :frowning: 68 never disappoints.

Hey Eric W, I enjoyed #68 last night, also:

OG N.68 2018 Sonoma County “Mountain” Cabernet Sauvignon

Almost 4.5 years bottled, PnP.
Now/at last this is always a very safe choice for me. Nicely balanced and well flavored. Great QPR, it did need the added aging for my tastes. Now, I believe it has truly arrived! Enjoy. :wine_glass: :wine_glass: .

per Cam, “The last offering from this stunning, high-elevation, Spring Mountain estate, N.68 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic example of the “mountain” breed. Dense and savory with elegantly delineated fruit, it reflects the extreme growing conditions of high-altitude vineyards.”

Ready Now. Happy to have more of this one! :grinning:

Wow, #50 has really turned into a beast, especially day 2. Was decanted for maybe 5 hours day 1, drank half, poured rest in bottle and vacuumed and had rest today. Better today. Really delicious. 25 yums.

#68 was one of my favorites. Been out of that for a long time.

I had to move a lot of dN from my old cabinet to new and seeing some favorites (300, 400, 401) made me think - how come we haven’t done a poll or march madness like competition for the best dN? Can either be QPR or just flat out best? It’s March after all? I’m too lazy to do it but someone should take the top 64 numbers and create a bracket and start a thread.

Saturday evening dinner and ballgame.

  • 2019 de Négoce Pinot Noir OG N.56 - USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley (3/1/2025)
Double decanted back into bottle for dinner and Warriors ballgame.

Nose: More aromatic then previous bottles. Cola spice, Rainier cherry, wild strawberry with touch of earth.
Color: Medium ruby and translucent in wine glass.
Palate: Mostly Rainier cherry mixed with strawberry.
Overall, this wine has gained more complexity, aromatics with bottle age. Fine grained tannins with a medium length finish makes for a pleasant Pinot. Worth the $144/case price by far. Not best dN Pinot by any stretch. Beats many $12 Pinots on a shelf at Costco or $20 too. (89 points)

But which 64 wines, or do we do 68, or do we open it up to the whole field? How about a pre-Cam D1 Tourney and a post-Cam D2 Tourney? I don’t remember who the WB poet is but maybe they could provide entertainment and inspiration along the way?
