Consumed n.222 over 2days…day 2 the best. Very impressed with the quality of this wine. 92-94pt wine.
Lot 222 2019 Rutherford “Hillside” Merlot ($300 case, 98% Merlot, 2% Cabernet, 60% new French and American oak [75/25 split], 14.8% alc. 250 cases were available. Bottled June 1st, 2021)
Lot 344, Eden Valley Barossa Shiraz.
Day 1 Pop-n-Pour…Wow!
My wife likes over-the-top Aussie Shiraz…think Mollydooker.
Day 2, good, not great.
11 remaining.
We have had the 416 Eola-Amity Hills Pinot and the 444 Sonoma Coast Pinot, both 2022, in recent weeks, and I was surprised by how accessible & integrated they both are at such a young age. The 416 leans toward slightly darker flavors & spices while the 444 showed brighter, elegant red fruits (if my memory serves me). Both are quite tasty.
OG dN Lot 194 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Over 3.5 years in the bottle. 2nd of 12, PnP.
Pours with a lightish color, more like a dark PN, than a CS.
Seductively restrained with extra delicious RED Fruit flavors and a fine elegant structure. The cool climate of this Wooden Valley fruit has plenty of acid.
My best summary is refined, pretty, elegant, RED fruit deliciousness and very seductive. I really like this wine for when a beautifully balanced high end Napa CS is desired.
3 Yums!!!
This 2019 is fantastic now. Probably will age rather well, too? Try it, you’ll like it!
If there’s a problem with this wine, it’s just too easy to solo guzzle a bottle, no regrets.
with awesome Beef Chuck Pot Roast lotsa ‘shrooms
Friday evening dinner prep wine: It was so good, wife drank most the bottle. Her Comments " I’m sure you have MORE" don’t cry.
- 2019 de Négoce Chardonnay OG N.182 - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (2/21/2025)
Poured at refrigerator temperature.
Nose: Lees, Pear, Lemons blossoms
Color: Light gold- perfect for my preference of RRV Chardonnay.
Palate: Ripe Pears, touch of lemon and engaging acidity. Deft touch here. Wife could not put this down, commenting on how delicious it was. This can age another couple years. Excellent now. (92 points)

429 dN Napa proprietary red. 2021. I chose this because the wine was In barrel for 15 to 18 months…. similar to some of the recent 2023 offerings. this wine is quite delicious and approachable on initial pour… whenever I have a dn Wine that I particularly enjoy I do try to go back and look at the initial tasting notes…. I am finding that Cameron‘s description of tobacco, leather and vanilla seem to align with the Napa cabs in the mid 14 etoh that I have enjoyed the most consistently. (I know that he likely didn’t write script for the ones Over lot 400). Very pleased with this purchase. I’m sad we didn’t get much 2021 Dn offers as it seems to have been similar to 2019 in approachability.
Yes, Luke! I tried my darnedest to stock up on the ‘21’s*, figuring that I would go very light on the ‘22’s & heavy on the ‘23’s. Good to hear the nice review of #429!!! Looking forward to trying one.
- a very fancy winemaker (a relative) in Oakville told me “the 21’s are excellent, but, there’s not much to go around.” words of wisdom.
Lot 486 | 2023 Napa Valley Chardonnay
Bottle 2? of 6. Only 7 months bottled, Very nice at this young age.
Rich enough to be interesting, nice depth of flavors, tropical and pineapples with a nice minerality. Plenty of acid to keep it on point for rich food. This seems very fine now, I DO believe you can age this for another 2-4 years! Double Yummy
I love the strong acidity with seafoods, cleansing the palate.
Hmmmmm, I do need 2-3 Tums (antacids) afterwards for dessert.
Never/very rarely ever happens with Red wines.
with home fried Cod Fish & veggies (no chips)
OG dN Lot 181 2019 Amador County Cabernet Sauvignon
23/24, PnP. This is drinking great!
No real need for additional cellaring, guzzle it at your pleasure! Excellent QPR@$9! Wow. It’s a yum!
I have a very hard time remembering when I had a better $9 wine, probably been over two decades. An occasional lucky BDX sourced from Trader Joe’s?
Also, The dollar went much further back then……………
with leftover roast(beginning to deteriorate, still good)
I almost opened 486 chard tonight for my wife but then a bottle of 330 slid out next to it. (Ans we both really love 486 and I wanted to save them for times when we both were drinking whites….sushi or poke nights) And my wife doesn’t seem to mind 330 as much as I do. She didn’t complain…I had a small glass of 330 and I’ll just say it’s not that bad anymore. Still nowhere close to the good chards from dn. But it was palatable
Lot 175 Columbia Valley Cab, 2018
“not like we’d think of as a Cab”
Day 1 ok good even.
Day 2 better. great nose, with a little alcohol burn. A bit thin with sharp tannins,
which others might characterize as menthol.
I’ma give this one just one Yum
A mile long dN Lot 524 Anderson Valley 2023 Gewürztraminer sales pitch for a simply wonderful, ‘fruity’ (son’s description, not mine), greatly appreciated white wine for our Grenadian daughter-in-law’s holiday birthday and other accolades gift. Our son’s only other comment, who prefers reds, was that this was a ‘fun’ wine for him and his wife who truly enjoys white wines most of the time. Heck, this wine was in bottle for two long months (bottled 12/19/2024) and that must have been long enough wait for them. This case, I’m sure, is doomed a short existence.
- 2018 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.145 - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/23/2025)
Drinking extremely well now. Have tracked these over the years and a wall of tannin has now turned into a beautifully balanced and rich wine. Black fruits, menthol, and licorice come through as to red raspberry. (92 points)
This one has come a looooong way!
Lucky 7’s?
17, 175 & 176.
OG N.17 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bottle 58/64!!!,
PnP, a perennial favorite of mine! This was my second dN purchase & my “Gateway dN drug”! I suddenly realized that I could buy a delicious Napa Cab for $12, a huge revelation! So, I “Backed up the Truck!” So Complex! Only 6 bottles left, I’ll be having 1-2/year until it’s all gone! Drank too many too soon, without regret!
This particular bottle was not up to expectations, tonight just a weak double yum.
Day 2 was better, hmmmm….
with Prime Tritip
OG dN Lot 175 2019 Red Mountain/Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon
Over 3.5 years in the bottle, PnP.
Deep dark color, a slight bit of menthol on the nose. Full and Deeply structured with a flawless execution/presentation. I like this now, maybe it should not be aged much longer? Day 2 seemed to deteriorate, from Plums to Prunes.
with Hot Dogs and Chili Beans
OG Lot 176 2019 Russian River Pinot Noir
Almost 4 years in the bottle! This keeps getting better!
I have over a case left, good thing! First 2.5+ cases were a victim of premature consumption.
This needed the bottle age to develop, fer sure! Extra Delicious, finally!!
with spatchcocked grilled Game Hen
N. 345 2022 Clare Valley Riesling. Best (and last) bottle of the 6 pack so far. Definitely some petrol on the nose and finish but its not too detracting. Lemon, ctirus, good acid bite. Not bad for $12!
Popped open another #300 tonight. There is a reason this beat a Harlan on my blind tasting.
Man I miss these Cameron sourced bottles…
Lot 300 Howell Mountain 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon [Bottled July 1, 2022] $39 Tranche I offer.
OG #22 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
One of the better cabs I’ve had from dN. Opened up quickly after less than a hour of just popping the cork on it. Very smooth feel, dark berries and plum dominate the palate. Lovely small sweet spot in the middle. Oak nicely integrated. Satisfying. A great deal at dN prices.
Thanks JohnMag!
You inspired me, #22 in the decanter for tonight.
