Thursday evening get together 1 of 2 de Negoce reds Left some each for following evening.
Topped off with Dubs win too.
2019 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.150 - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain (2/13/2025)
Double decanted back into bottle prior to serving. Nose: Spicy, blackberry with violet florals. Color: Nearly opaque in glass, purple to rim. Young still. Palate: Some intriguing Washington Cabernet notes here. This is not a Napa style Cab. More red rock, leather, cherry. Very enjoyable and still young. Finish holds for 30 plus seconds with medium acidity, and resolved, not harsh tannins like young Washington Cabs can provide. Needs 2-3 more years in bottle. Bargain at $144/case. (91 points)
2nd de Negoce Red of night this one Chris brought. He loves his GSMs.
2021 de Négoce OG Lot 348 GSM - Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley (2/13/2025)
Popped and poured. Nose: Typical GSM notes of dark fruit with spice. Good start here. Color: Dark and opaque in glass. Palate: Savory in mouth. Some blueberry/boysenberry wrapped around dark earth (Mourvedre) and lavender. Finish is really enjoyable, quite the bargain for $119/case. Wow. I'd say you could not touch this quality GSM in a supermarket for $30/bottle. This is enjoyable now, should age quite well for 3-5 years. (90 points)
Last bottle of 6. My lowest dN number. Over 4.5 years in the bottle.
PnP, slightly complex with primarily black fruits, and some dried herbs.
Well Structured wine, with modest acidity & mainly very strong tannins, a nice long finish.
I like this now, no need for me to age additionally. drank ‘em all up Tannic! with USDA Prime Ribeye
Day 2-still good, you can age them, mine are gone……
Happy Valentines Day to you all!
Roast beef here tonight with #250.
I have had extremely satisfying results with a deliciously evenly cooked well aged roast @ 200F, with this very simple & excellent recipe. You may like it too?
I really needed a few stiff shots of single malt after 4 incredibly frustrating hours trying, and failing to install a new internet router. Since I promised my son I’d help him build a chicken coop tomorrow, I decided to keep things under control, so a glass or two of #109, 2018 Fair Play Syrah will have to do. Very nice and tracks the description quite well. Really was a steal at $9.
Opened our first N 68 Sonoma County Mountain 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon which was bottled Sept 28, 2020 - 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 7% Petite Verdot. As JohnMag noted: . . . ‘a solid cab that is enjoyable and a great value.’ ($11 moving day sale price / $18 Tranche I / $29 Bottle Shop / ascribed $80 wine). I’m tempted to use this for my 80th Birthday Dinner wine for the mixed cross section company involved. This Cab Sauv easily strikes all the right notes for such an occasion. A straightforward 90 pts / A
2017 de Négoce Cabernet Sauvignon OG N.146 Napa Valley "Reserve" - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/14/2025)
Double decanted back into bottle one hour prior to Valentines day dinner of Filet Mignon and Argentinian Red Shrimp. Consistent with last tasting September 2024. Just pure, delicious Napa Cabernet Iron Fist in Velvet Glove. Wife describes it as "chewy". Just 6 bottles left from original de Negoce VIP offer. (94 points)
Saturday evening de Negoce wine rides in to the rescue after a disappointing 2015 Albert Bichot Morey-Saint Denis 1er Cru Les Sorbets.
2019 de Négoce Pinot Noir OG N.70-A - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains (2/15/2025)
Popped and poured with roasted Coleman center cut loin roast, steamed artichoke/ green beans. Aromatics are starting to evolve on these Cuvee series. Past bottle been rather shy. Picking up some wild strawberry and faint spicy earth. Color is light ruby and transparent in glass. Palate continues the aromatic profile with more wild strawberry, note of light raspberry. Smooth on the finish with medium body and acidity, fine grained tannins noticable too. These 70 Series Cuvees are starting to hit their stride after 4.5 years in glass. (91 points)
Was just looking at my most expensive dN purchases in storage, wondering what I should pull to drink now, vs letting it age further. i skimmed the last few months of this post, and it looks like 200 250 300
are all getting good reviews. These are all '19s. 400 497 500
not so much, not really surprising as they are all more recent vintages.
Sound about right?
Had a 200 a few nights ago, it was wonderful, dark fruit, good complexity and a long finish. My opinion is that it will continue to improve, so my note was to be patient. I am glad I checked in on it, I have 9 left. Cam thought it could go 20 to 30 years.
4+ years bottled, PnP.
This dark, moderately heavy bodied and fairly complex CS is drinking fine on first pour.
Also, it was still fine and fresh on day 2. You can still age this nice wine.
It’s yummy $149/delivered, very nice!!! with extra delicious homemade Hamburgers (only 73% lean )
OG dN Lot 193 2019 Red Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
3.75 years bottled, PnP.
This delicious wine has great fruit, oak and balanced tannin.
Super Yummy, this wine may be the Ultimate Cellar Defender Cabernet!
Probably a double or triple Yum! /
This just keeps getting better, only $120/case! Wow! with leftover slow cooked beef rib roast
Agree with your note, I had a bottle of #309 the other night and it was a really nice, mid-weight Cab, perfect for a glass or two on a weeknight, especially for $13!..
We had a 195 meritage over the weekend, blended by cam & his team with 60% Merlot & 20 each CS& CF. (And winner of the all-time weirdest sales pitch ever. “Prettiest Athlete” …. “Yin-yang Hillside Harmony.” What the…?)
Anyway it needed some time to open in the decanter, but it was well received & very approachable. A medium-plus to big wine, rich, ripe, deep red fruits & spice. The alcohol may still be ever so slightly hot. We were also enjoying a 2017 Linden claret which had all 5 Bordeaux grapes and which edged the 195 out ever so slightly in complexity & finesse.
I think 195 will continue to improve & integrate for 2-3 years and hold for a very long time.
