Love it!
Decent wine, but compared to a few previous vintages it feels rather ripe and lacks a bit of acidity, which is not the best combination, so in that regard a slightly disappointing vintage. Atleast for this cuvée.
Thanks for the check-in. Have not tried any DJ '23s but just got some Margotes delivered yesterday. We;ll see.
Had the DJ MC VV 23 last weekend - it was already amazing. Way, way better than the Bonin Limozin 22 it was ip against (both blind)
I didn’t buy any of the 23s, maybe I should.
Quite ripe and not getting cab franc vibes. Likeable? Yes. In an overextracted Napa CS goes great with grilled ribeye kinda way.
Have so far only had the VV, but will be checking in on the regular Meix Cadot next weekend. Will report back.
Went to dinner with friends at AMA Restaurant in DC, a James Beard finalist. Unique Italian food. We had some wonderful wines all drinking very well. I was surprised the Beta was so open for such a young wine.
The Houston crowd’s 2022 Beta Maus was also super open and tasty at the start of April.
Probably the first DJ white I’ve felt disappointed by, which caught me by surprise. Sort of flabby and lacked density compared to something like '22. My GF liked the '23 aligote, though I still haven’t had that (or any 23s up the ladder).
For us ignorant dumbasses, to what wine are you referring with all the acronyms?
Sry! Dureuil Janthial Meix Cadot Vielles Vignes =)
Same. I bought a six-pack without reading up on it, because I am used to all of them being pretty awesome. That said, then I still enjoy it. Just not up to the usual standards.
The base 2023 Rully Pinot Noir was lovely though.
I’m pretty sure GF means girlfriend, but you never know!
