I had one of these a couple months ago. Fantastic.
Friday’s wines. Was surprised that the Schrader was not more complex. Maybe needed more time open but it just seemed very monolithic
Born 2 decades apart. The 1983 is graceful, fresh with lip-smacking acidity; the 2002 is a youthful 23 y o dutifully and competently carrying on the great house style and tradition.
(Dinner at Wu’s NYC; thanks to @rahsaanmax for photo).
1983 Dom. Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Emile Riesling
2002 Dom. Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Emile Riesling
Mostly Champagne and Riesling dinner @ Wu’s NYC, but we made room for some cool-drinking reds.
2006 Chandon de Briailles Pernand-Vergelesses Ile des Vergelesses
2006 Robert Chevillon NSG Les St. Georges
2005 Hudelot-Noellat NSG Les Murgers
How was it? Little PSA….Benchmark has a few 90s Sky Zin available to restock.
I forgot to circle back. It was charmless. Lean tart red fruits. I tried to coax something out of it and then moved on. Thanks for that PSA, I would definitely try these again just different vintages and hopefully better bottle condition.
how was the hudelot ?
I had a bottle of this Friday night and it was absolutely singing. Such a captivating nose.
Tighter than the 2006ers. With more time in the glass it presented all the structure that I like. My red of the night.
How did that Choppin show?
Quite good, extreme value. Haven’t taking any notes.
2020 was a great vintage in California! If you know where to look. Opened these gems with family last night while playing cards. Cheers!
Do tell!!
