Have you looked at the château in 3D on Google Earth?
2009 Domaine de Chevalier. My dear friend @Robert.A.Jr, who hates pleasure, would trade this in a heartbeat for something thin and weedy, but in this (if nothing else) he is wrong. Just gorgeous.
I just went cycling with a stress fracture in my left foot! Pain is pleasure! You soft hedonist!
After 3 champagnes (see appropriate thread) we did a white and then hit the hooch.
Bright, natural, fresh. Decant, swirl, move, shake all about. Needs air, violence and turbulence!
Sounds like you need a 2009 DdC to dull the pain !
Lovely vintage of Magdelaine! I bought three bottles last year and drank them in like 6 weeks! Not an ager but just lovely.
We want to know how it is Robert!!!
Cruise ship wine dinner, the sommelier replaced the 2012 Giacosa white label for a 2007 Giacosa Red Label!

2019 Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles St.-Jacques
Today I decided I was going to pick something out of the cellar at random that I have never had before.
This wine reminds me of Liam Neeson somehow. Its like an old man smashing young gangsters using old-man-strength and sheer brutality. Not un-drinkable, there is some bright red fruit here, but this needs to rest until retirement age before approaching.
Beautiful stuff. It’s that next generation of producer that is really doing wonderful things, I will concede, It is a bit polished, but I would not call this modern in the negative sense of the word. A very heady aromatic perfume that is pretty intoxicating. No pun intended. I think you will like it.
2003 SQN Papa Syrah:
I was expecting a much more outrageous wine than what I got — not a bad thing in that this was to me a beautiful example of New World Syrah. Yes it’s big, but it wears its abv pretty well. I think this would be hard to confuse with a N Rhone, but on its own terms this really was delicious and surprisingly refined and balanced, for all its opulence.
From CT review:
1 hr decant. I don’t think the time matters (this is going to air about as fast as the Pyramids) but a decant helps. I was surprised at how young this tasted in a way: the age is betrayed by the smoothness of the tannins rather than the very big plum / dark cherry tastes. A touch of tobacco, but not much typical Syrah pepper. Some anise showing up about 2 hrs after decant. Unlike some other TNs I did not feel the finish was marred by heat.
Really, I have come to expect pyrotechnics and OTT flavors from SQN and this was not that — impressively integrated, well balanced and not as heavy as I expected. Still a very New World Syrah, but an excellent example of it.
