Peach, ripe green apples, minerality and a slightly saline finish. A well balanced sugar and acid level. Itâs mind bogglingly good. A very different take on Chardonnay â at first we thought thereâd been a mistake as it was much more reminiscent of a Pinot Blanc. Day 2-3 turns into a more creamy version. Very good. I wouldnât say that thereâs more upside from cellaring.

It was interesting to taste these two 2017s together. Both are from relatively young vines (the Hospice de Beaune Les Montrevenots vineyard was replanted to Chardonnay in 2010). The Drouhin was excellent, but Walter Scott was better. Both wines were somewhat reduced, but the Walter Scott showed a little more fruit, tension, and complexity. Later, as the reduction subsided, the depth of the Walter Scott really showed through. By the end of the evening, the Drouhin was beginning to fade a little and the WS was getting more interesting.

Had some friends over yesterday for pre Christmas festivities.
Started with the Moussé and it was such a hit that more bubbles were needed stat. Love this cuveé.
Pierre Peters always pleases, this was no exception.
I cooked one of my favorites - French onion soup. Paired with the Gangi Sekirei Sake. Turned out to be a fantastic pairing. The floral lifting notes of the Sake balanced the rich soup beautifully.
We then served some herb roasted chicken breast stuffed with apples and Brie cheese. That was paired with the Extradimensional Wine Co YEAH! Semdawg.

2005 R Chevillon Les Bousselots. A burly and uncouth sort of wine a couple of hours after opening, more lumberjack than first violinist. I suppose at 18 I was reluctant to wake up too.
Whatever, the wine ended up being more graceful and accommodating as the night went on. Still dense and concentrated, without much grace, but a pleasant way to pass the evening. My guess is that it has some time to go.

Opened a 2018 Corison Kronos 1.5 hour decant in the cellar then back in bottle off to the restaurant. Just love Cathy s wines She is the only membership I have in Napa. Low alcohol smooth tannin Just so elegant.

Was curious to try, doubt I re-buy. Prolly not fair to the wine considering itâs a baby, and still quite primary, but hard for me to justify 3x the price of the outstanding 2021 Baudry Grezeaux. Fellow Berserker Ian Howe was with me, seems like his impression was similar. Neither of us âwowedâ. Will say that it deftly carries the 14.5 ABV, with a refreshing range of red and dark fruits and a minty top note. Solid structure for some aging. Will try the Syrah San Soufre next.

Had the 07 of this recently which was in a nice drinking window, still some structure and fruit transitioning to mature savory flavors. Very enjoyable for a smaller vintage.

I would never want to get into a debate or anything regarding old world new world wine got plenty of both and enjoy both depending on circumstance. Also, I respect all my visitors tastes and like to have something available for everyone. As for the Baudry Grezeaux nice wine 21 cab franc thatâs young good vintage. We are comparing a cab I believe to a Franc. I love cab franc the Baudry would not be my first choice. If QPR was the guide line go with the 2016 Batzella Cabernet Franc Vox Loci. price not an issue new world Morlet 15 Force de la nature or old world Giuseppe Quintarelli yes expensive but a treat for cab franc lovers
Mitch, we may be cross-pollenating posts. Youâre responding to me, where my comparison was between two Cab Francs. It took me a few minutes to figure this out, but I think you are referring to the Corison Cab Sav. I was talking about the Kobayashi Cab Franc.
As for Cab Franc, Baudry for me is pretty
Much benchmark regardless of new or old world. An amazing, consistent producer with a deep bench of offerings.
