What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 2)


Château Lalande d’Auvion 2000
From my FIL’s cellar (now that we see the bottles we can select some!). This is representative of most of his Bordeaux: bottles from relatively unknown châteaux that have been forgotten for 25-30 years in his cellar.

This was pretty good and totally drinkable! Musky, feral, tertiary nose and palate. This is mostly savoury but with some red berries still kicking in there and bright acidity. The tannins have all integrated. Slight touch of VA but you get used to it after your first glass. This was paired with what was announced as a leek Flammekueche but turned out to be a runny leek quiche and a rather inconvenient pairing. I’ll try again tonight with whatever is served.
