Alone for lunch… I figured beef cheeks and Sociando would cheer me up. And? It did. The creamy polenta aux lardons didn’t hurt either.
I’ve had this 2002 a few times now and the nose exceeds the palate. But what a nose. It’s everything I want out of this: full on sauvage savouriness. It’s leather, pyrazines, tobacco and some earthiness. Damn. The palate is fine but lets the nose down. It lacks a little concentration. Still, it worked. I finished the lunch with a baked apple and Armagnac. Life is sweet.
