What bottle of wine did you open today? (Part 1)

2008 C. Donatiello Chardonnay Orsi Vineyard with broiled Tilapa and Greek Yogurt/chives/dijon sauce. It’s the simple things in life that make it good [cheers.gif]

Gosset Excellence, 2004 Rhys Family Farm (bretty - bummer), and SQN Papa. With rack of lamb.

07 de Montille PM Caillerets - one of my absolute fave white burgs vintage in and out, maybe my favorite

Nice weekend!

Friday…had a couple of friends over
'94 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain - Rich, but dry with laser acidity…fantastic!
'99 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin…beautiful red fruit…will get better with a few more years in the cellar.
'88 Château d’Yquem - off the charts! My second fav d’Yquem to the '75…blows away the '89 and '90…
'77 Graham Porto Vintage - Nice, but the Cohiba was better…finished the end of the bottle tonight…

Saturday…went and hung at some friends pool
'01 Clarendon Hills Grenache Old Vines Blewitt Springs…drinking nice…went great with some spicy pulled pork
'99 Antinori Tignanello - this was really nice with just a little funk…peaking IMO

Tonight with NY Strips…wife said she’d had enough for the week so I savored to myself over the evening…
'94 Joseph Phelps Insignia - peaking IMO…fantastic drink, prefer the '91 though.

On Saturday night with Flannery Hanger steak, 2001 Cosentino CE2V Meritage (a bottle that we bought on our honeymoon in '03). Last night, a 2002 Huet Vouvray Petillant Reserve which was incredibly delicious and paired beautifully with chilled avocado and cucumber soup topped with bacon.

'11 Maze Sauvignon Blanc Blau Vineyard

A 2009 Copain Monument Tree Pinot. I was amazed the difference that food makes when matched with this wine…a turkey burger recipe that profoundly changed the flavor profile. This is a wine that is ok to continue to “hold” imo and I am glad to have a few bottles to experiment along the way. Great balance and acidity…

2007 Domaine Caillot Bourgogne Blanc Les Blanc Herbeaux

Pretty pure example of Chardonnay - I can’t believe there is ANY oak, even in the vicinity of where this wine is made. High quality wine, easy to enjoy, great with food. Very clean finish helps a lot…

1971 Rinaldi Barolo = Super Wow!

Wow…on a Tuesday!!

Yeah. I always thought it was a Wednesday wine, but what the heck do I know?

2009 Paul Hobbs Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir. Yumm.

Happy Thirsty Wine for me!

2007 Bevan Dry Stack Syrah, Bob’s Cuvee - love it!

Cheers, [cheers.gif]

Monday night:

2007 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Spätlese with Seared Foie Gras

1989 Château Rauzan-Ségla (among others) with Roast Pigeon

Tuesday night:

1985 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande with Lamb Shoulder

2001 Bodegas R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Reserva with Grilled Rib-Eye Steak

2004 Domaine Weinbach Pinot Noir (Alsace)
2010 Donkey & Goat Carignane

The pinot was dull and flat, I think it may have been cooked at some point. The carignane was outstanding.

2010 Auteur Willamette Valley Ophelia Pinot Noir. Pretty tasty as it opens up.

Or maybe it was from Alsace. neener

2009 Chateau de Puligny Montrachet Folatieres. Initially looked too tight as served a bit too cold but as it warmed up a bit it looked much better and integrated. Nice but not in the league of the Boillots.

Need to taste the 2004 Chateau de Puligny Montrachet Folatieres again which when last tasted (last year) looked very nice and complex without premox hint.

Domaine Collotte 2011 Marsannay Rose. Probably should have waited till tomorrow when it gets really hot outside, but it was calling me.
