I just bought a 750 of this over the weekend at my local bottle shop. He’s had two bottles on the shelf for a month or so, and the price is clearly a barrier for moving them. I got tired of him begging me to buy one, so I pulled the trigger. Looking forward to your notes!
Presently, I am less than 24 hours from making Jorge sorry he ever thought he might want to meet me ; I’d say we’re approximately 16 hours away from the beginning of an evening full of bad decisions.
Last week I had the Aloha Beer Red. It is sadly only available in kegs. I will say the beer was fantastic- tasted more like a nut brown with a great nutty finish on it. One of the top non-Belgians I have had in many a moon.
Cismontaine Brewing - Holy Jim Falls - Extra Pale Ale, from Rancho Santa Margarita. 500ml bottle. 4.5abv. Hoppy, very crisp and citrusy and quite savory and quenching.
Edit. Disclaimer: We sell this.
Two sounds like exactly the right amount. The guy in front of me at the brewery was raving about it, so I bought six (!). I still haven’t opened one because I’m never craving barley wine. Maybe I’ll open one tonight.
Janet’s Brown Ale, 7.6 abv. No, I don’t know who Janet is. Followed by a pizza and a Pliny the Elder. Wanted to get one last stop at RRBC before all hell breaks loose on Friday. lol
I cannot fathom that scene at all. Beachwood is getting a keg and is doing their raffle again for the fight against Melanoma which I think is just so cool. I’ll get my pint and a great cause will get a few $$$ from me. Being a skin cancer victim this really is a no brainer for us.
Not that anyone gives two shits in all reality, but here it is, anyway!
Janet is the late wife of Mike “Tasty” McDole from the Brewing Network (homebrewing/beer geek internet radio). Tasty made a Brown Ale is honor of his wife as a home brewer and the beer won a gold medal at the 2009 National Homebrewers Conference.
Russian River selected the beer to brew for the 2009 GABF ProAm and has been doing it annually ever since. I believe the proceeds to the beer goes to a charity.
A little three night exploration of some chocolate beers:
Sam Adams Chocolate Bock- Terrible
Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout- Delicious
Rogue Chocolate Stout- had many times, consistently good, less sweet than the Sam Smith.
A couple of Victory Hop Wallop- I think I am just used to West Coast IPA’s.
Birrifico Ducato Verdi Imperial Stout- Reminds me a ton of Guinness Foreign Extra. Tasty stuff.
