West Coast IPA = very little malt bill intrusion on the overall flavor/nose profile.
East Coast IPA= enormous malt bill inclusion in the flavor/nose profile.
grabbed a Cafe Racer 15 at Bear Republic while getting a growler filled. Tasty stuff – might be my favorite brew of theirs. Tried a taster of a cognac barrel aged beer they had on tap – smelled cognac-y (and boozy) and came off hot. Wish they would bottle it, age might help it.
Ninkasi Tricerahops DIPA- A good beer, no idea what is “double” as Sierra Nevada Pale has more forward hops.
Hair of the Dog Fred Batch 87- Gusher, even more than usual. A good batch of Fred, but I got about 9 oz of the 12.
Deschutes Red Chair NWPA- A seasonal favorite of mine. 6’packs for $7 and a delicious hoppy pale ale. Will be a regular around here for the next few months.
Reuben’s Brews American Rye Ale- A new nano producer here in Seattle, shows lots of potential, but still very homebrew-ish.
FW Velvet Merlin- This keg has lingered around the neighborhood place for almost a week. A little less sweet than last weekend and showing a lot more depth.
Dogfish Head Noble Rot- I’ve cellared this for almost a year. Very soft now. Drinks more like Champagne than beer, and you thought Miller High Life was the Champagne of beer.
Good to hear that about the DFH Noble Rot: a friend gave me a bottle over XMas, and I haven’t gotten to it yet. Sounds as though I’ll like it. Is the botrytis very evident?
Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 11.5% IBU: 115 Color: Black
Named for the witch who guarded the fountain of life and death in Russian folklore,
the black depths of this Russian Imperial Stout hold coffee, licorice, and bittersweet chocolate flavors.
the cognac barrel aged. I like Bear Republic, but they are terrible on details.
But- I have seen a number of people talk about Southern Tier. I found antoher bottle of the Creme Brule Stout in my cellar. It is a good beer but not to my tastes. IT is hard to find. Free to a good home for whomever wants to try it.
I adore O’so’s beers, probably my favorite Wisconsin brewer - I get to work next to them at a number of beer festivals throughout the summer in Wisconsin and I usually walk away with a few mixed cases of their stuff - their Imperial Red Ale (Dank) is simply stunning -
