What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?

Nice get! Saw that one up there. It’s actually what made me go find mine to open. My fav Bedrock cab to date.

Nice man!! Definitely post a TN!

Paired with beef shank in tomato base with onions, carrots and celery. The wine by itself is svelte, tannins long gone but popping with the beef. 2nd glass 3 hours later and classic aged Syrah notes. I had to look to confirm, but you can definitely tell there’s viognier in the blend as it smooths out the Syrah.

No rush if you have a bottle, however not sure if it improves with more time. I’m sure this could be held into tertiary notes but it is drinking excellently now.

With the widespread political violence and infrastructure disruption affecting Mexico today I thought staying home and opening the good stuff was the call.

I could write a bunch of dreck about intensity and Zinberry but this is simply a top 5 Zinfandel of my life, easily.

Long ago, Chris made sure I got one of these. Thank you sir.

If you’ve got a bottle no rush despite some pruniness in the nose.

I hope you’re doing well and staying safe my friend!

On the vino front, wow, what an amazing pull! I agree, this is a VERY special bottle. My guy @amjohnstone was awesome enough to invite me to join him on a Bedrock vineyard tour he won at auction quite a few years back and the one and only @Brian_Tuite joined us. Brian brought that 11 Puccini and it was easily the top bottle we opened amongst very stiff competition. I have 1 bottle in the cellar and am never sure when i should open it so this is super helpful.

Cheers pal!

Clos Puccini! That WAS a special bottle. Glad it brought you the pleasure it brought to us.

Bet there are not that many left in the wild, outside of their library of course.

Had my lone bottle several years ago but remember it being pretty great. I’m not surprised it’s held up well.

Had to check CellarTracker after those comments. Only 24 bottles currently logged in cellars - wow. Then, I noticed the following epic TN from 2019: “Good God. This smells like Smurfs running on rainbows!” A shame I’ll never get to know what that tastes like…

Way better description than I could have have penned.

You catch a flight I have half bottle put away…

Ha ha! That was actually my TN…and that’s exactly what it smelled like  @amjohnstone and @Brian_Tuite can back me up on that

Too bad the allocation was only one bottle if you were lucky. Of which I was.

Not a Bedrock wine per se, but in the family (made by Jackie Sotelo and her husband Gustavo) and deserves a mention - there isn’t a single review on CT of this wine (any vintage).

I’m sure many folks here have encountered Jackie and know just how crucial she is to keeping everything running smoothly at Bedrock!

  • 2023 Orixe Sotelo Godello Soto - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (2/27/2026)
An exceptional value, poured BTG at Delfina for $16. Everything you look for in a high-quality Godello - punchy green apple and citrus fruit, an undertow of saline minerals and white flowers. Wonderful presence and a rich texture that is still very medium bodied, with snap and a vibrant thrum of acidity. Went equally well with seared octopus and an escarole & egg pizza bianco. My first encounter with Orixe Sotelo and seems like folks should be talking about them much more. (92 points)

Popped open the 2013 Weill A Way Exposition Two with a homemade Zahav inspired feast. The wine took some time to open up as I slow oxxed for an hour then decanted for another hour. The wine was full bodied and still has good tannic structure for 13 years old and for how much the alcohol can show in this wine it was still so smooth and enjoyable to drink. Had some meat,
Smoke and mint tertiary flavors. It was a perfect pairing for the Lamb.

2024 Bedrock Rossi Ranch Zinfandel

First vintage of Rossi Ranch Zinfandel for Bedrock, taking some of the fruit in the wake of Carlisle slowing things down. My first of 2 bottles. I did taste this wine once before at a Bedrock pickup party and the aromatics really struck me. I’ve been excited to try one of these ever since, so here we are.

First impressions; on nose the fruit is super pure and vibrant raspberry/cherry and the madrone garrigue & herbaceousness is really popping, a wonderful combination! On the palate this is lighter on its feet than I anticipated, i’m picking up some cranberry and cherry, with a nice long finish. Im really loving herbs and purity of fruit here. Super happy with this! (94 Pts)

I love this wine. A somewhat local shop has the 2018 vintage but I am nervous about storage so will have to wait on my 2023s. Interesting that it was classified as Carignan in 2015. Sad they are not making it anymore.

Love hearing that my friend!! You think its a drink now/soon kinda wine or is there some potential upside to holding a little longer (sadly I only have a single bottle)?
