We just had it on Monday. Agree, it’s drinking very nicely right now. Better than the 18 & 19.
At the SORBET event in August in SF, they had a Montecillo vineyard table with a handful of producers (no Bedrock). My favorite was the 2023 Arnot-Roberts with the 2022 Di Costanzo a close second. The vineyard tables were a great idea and really fun. I made it to Montecillo, Monte Rosso and Rossi Ranch.
If you haven’t seen it yet, @Morgan_Twain-Peterson did a Substack article with notes on an array of Bedrock Sonoma County Cabernet Vintages. Thanks Morgan.
Give this an hour of air and then, whoa, just a blast of full-throttle, wide open Classic OV Zin! So damn perfumed. Big brambly dark fruits with some liquor notes but not heat. Damp, pungent earth. A Tone Loc funky cold Medina thing going on, too. Some charcoal and green tinges as well, underscored by red citrus fruit notes. Ok maybe a kiss of heat on the finish, but it is big Zin after all.
I have three bottles left. I think they are in the zone now just don’t know where they go.
(93 pts.)
PS. Gosh darn I love Zin. Best wine made in America!
2013 Bedrock’s are fire right now, drinking a 2013 Papera right now and it’s delicious. Probably at peak, but so damn good.

Ahhhh, love this!! Bedrock/Bedrock is, arguably, my favorite offering in most vintages. Morgan works magic with his own fruit and they age so damn well. Appreciate you posting this and cheers to an early start to the Thanksgiving Holiday ![]()
And i 1000% agree! Drinking a 13 Belle du Jour as we speak and it’s awesome!
2022 Birdhorse Evangelho Carignan - made by Katie Rouse, the associate winemaker at Bedrock.
This is one to look out for. I loved this - if Cody’s Desire Lines wines showcase a dialed back version of Evangelho focused on clean lines and precision, Katie’s version is all about textural loveliness and and velvety red fruit. Evangelho, by way of Chambolle.
Marked down to $19.95 at K&L - if you’re an Evangelho fan do yourself a favor and pick up a few of these.
Their Shake Ridge barbera is a fun one too, really bright and punchy. Not sure if they get the fruit from the same block as Bedrock, but I think they might coordinate the pick, probably because it is such a haul out there. (FYI K&L has the Desire Lines Evangelho at a great price too. They had a ton of the 18’ recently but its all gone now.)
2012 Mixed Blacks Weil a Way Vineyard.
Huge fan of this offering, and the 2012 is my favorite vintage. Beautiful florals and spice on the nose, with deep, dusty black and purple fruits on the palate. Everything is well integrated, but the wine retains plenty of structure and has ample acidity on the finish, hinting at many more years of prime-time drinking. Great stuff!
Nice note, Rich. I went looking for some of those cuz I’m sure I have some but first came across the 2012 Weill a Way Vineyard Exposition Series One, Two and Three Syrah.
Have you had one of those lately?
Thanks Truett! Fingers crossed you have some of this mixed blacks in the cellar, as its drinking really well!
And i have not opened any of the 2012 Exposition series yet, although i do have some that I’m holding (sons birth-year).
Cheers!
2009 Sémillon Lachryma Montis, Botrytized Old Vine Monte Rosso Vineyard.
Man this is tasty. Fortunate to have a few bottles of these left so I popped the one with the darkest color. In the mouth, your palate is instantly engulfed with an amazing mix of bright citrus, peaches, marmalade, and a hint of brown sugar. The fruit is deep and pure, but washed down with a literal explosion of acidity, creating a beautifully light and almost ethereal mouth-feel. So good, and ao much going on here, that it’s hard to put the glass down. Trying to save some for tomorrow but I don’t know if that’s going to happen. Easily the best domestic dessert wine around…only potentially eclipsed by the legendary 2011 bottle. Great stuff @Morgan_Twain-Peterson @Chris_Cottrell
2012 Dolinsek.
Just so damn good. Love the vintage. Love Dolinsek. Every time i open one i think to myself ‘I could drink this every day and be happy’.
Drinking insanely well right now!
2023 Esola - My first Esola and seemingly their last. The Bedrock description was not wrong - quite floral and tangy. Different than I’m used to from a Bedrock zin but quite good
Welp, popped a 21’ Buffalo in Montana. Felt Papera dominant with the hallmark lip smacking Papera fruit but definitely a blend. Still young to be drinking, but oh so so good. Slow ox’d for around 6 hours before drinking.
Had a couple of 2017s this week, Bedrock Heritage and Dolinsek. Both really nice and drinking beautifully. No need to wait if anyone is curious on these. 2017 a generous year, ready to rock.

Nice Jack! And i totally agree on the 2017s. Ready to go, and probably not a super long-lived vintage. Well…except for Sky zinfandel (and probably Oakville Farmhouse). Those should easily go the distance ![]()
