What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?

I’m in for a few bottles, but with all the Last Bottle / Cam X purchases this summer, I’m now paying for off-site storage. Between the elevated price points plus the cost to lay these down for 4-5 years (at least), it’s not the easy “buy” decision for me that it used to be.

I’ve curtailed all purchases due to critical mass in my cellar and now being 65 years old how much wine do I need?
Gotta keep the Farmhouse vertical going though. They might hook into me on pick up day when I taste some wine, but I really need to control things.

I ordered a mixed case. Did I miss the 2024 Sky or is that going into the spring offering?

We picked the exact same wines, except I added on 9 of the Cal Syrah (great cellar defender.) Yes, last year of Under the Mountain.

Solid release per usual!

In for Bedrock Heritage (arguably my overall favorite), Belloni, Rossi, Under The Mountain, Monte Rosso, and of course Oakville Farmhouse

Thanks. I figured that was the case…

Cheers,

I had to keep it to a sixer. Would be easy to get to a case - lots of great wines in this release - but as others have noted, there’s only so much room to put stuff and only so much wine budget each year.

Well, I tried.

2020 Bedrock Vineyard Heritage Wine: Although I tasted the 2023 Bedrock Zinfandel recently (not the heritage) this was actually my first experience with the Bedrock Heritage wine. Really big and vibrant on the nose, dark fruits but still energetic, a hint of citrus (my wife said grapefruit!). The acid on the palate brings this back into check but this does still feel like a baby, and although the fruit is big and beautiful I feel like this would benefit with additional bottle age. Glad I opened it though, still got half a bottle to follow tomorrow. Cheers to the winter release!

2010 Papa’s All-Blacks. It’s a beautiful garnet color with the slightest bricking at the rim. I wish I could describe the intoxicating aroma - I keep coming back to it but am at a loss to describe it. It’s savory and juicy with a touch of drying tannin on the finish.

Probably at peak so drink within a year or two.

Went great with braised short ribs, which had a bottle of 2010 Bedrock Syrah in the sauce.

Amazing, thank you so much! Haven’t seen a TN on this one in a while so i appreciate the update

Thanks for the tasting note. I was recently thinking about opening my last one.

2023 Bedrock Wine Co. Cabernet Franc Detert Vineyard East Block - probably one of the most expensive Bedrock Wines out there. Pretty impressive but still falls into their wheelhouse - balanced and a very pretty wine.

I really did enjoy this over a few nights - had it with Salmon one night and with Pasta with a crab alfredo sauce. I am new to Bedrock and this was one of the vineyards that really piqued my curiousity regarding the source of the grapes - field blend - etc. If tasted blind I might of thought it was a chablis but that’s probably because it’s been a minute since I have had any Hugel or Trimbach wines.

Wow thanks for taking one for the team. Did you drink this over more than one day to see how it evolved?

3 nights - in the fridge. I can’t say that it was any better or worse one night versus the next. It held up well and was delicious three nights in a row. Bright acidity and more citrus than stone fruits. Could benefit from a few years of cellaring but it’s pretty good right now.

As an addendum I noticed that the Bedrock Boys have a suggested drinking time frame for their wines on their website (of course they do).

New varietal for me. Like a spicy Pinot, perhaps? Enjoyed alongside a pot roast, but it would have been better with a Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas goose.
