What Bedrock wine are you drinking tonight?

Tastes more like Shake Ridge than it does Barbera or Bedrock!

Hi @Rich_Brown I think you are RichEB1 on CT. I have a Bedrock Pagani 2016 in the on deck circle. You wrote this review about 6 months ago:
Tasted by RichEB1 on 3/6/2025 & rated 90 points: Big and burly for Bedrock standards but still damn tasty. I’m going to give me remaining bottle a few years as there’s definitely some upside here.

Would you suggest decanting or anything other treatment? Also, it seems like a bit of a tepid review. I really love the Pagani signature so do you think I’d like it more?

Yep that’s me! Honestly I’d leave this one alone for a bit if you can as its just a really big wine that could use more time to integrate. Otherwise if you’re set on opening it now, I’d give it plenty of air (i.e. multiple hours).

Do you happen to have any other vintages kicking around? The 14 is in a great spot. I’d even drink the 17 before the 16 (not the best iteration of Pagani but I’ve found Bedrock 17’s to be drinking really well right now and I’m not sure about their longevity).

I’ve had 2011-15 this year but haven’t had a bottle of 2016 yet. I’m a bit late to the Bedrock party because I just didn’t really buy much US wine for years, but one of my first loves was early 1990s Ravenswood, Ridge, and Lytton Lytton (1991 was god wine). I had some Once & Future and Bedrock 2018s a few years ago and have jumped back in a bit. I did some backfilling from Winebid, K&L, and retail offers.

I’m pretty dead set on trying the 2016 since I haven’t tried that vintage yet and I just received a K&L auction lot. I’ll report back on CT at least.

Agree with my friend Rich, give it a ton of air. You won’t be disappointed.

We’re very excited to share that our winter release is coming up on Tuesday, October 28.

The release will include some final wines from the 2023 vintage along with the release of the Bedrock Heritage Wine and more from the lovely 2024 vintage.

On the white wine side, we’ll have 2024 Judge Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc and the mountainous expression of Alta Vista Gewürztraminer from 2023.

Along with the 2024 Bedrock Heritage Wine, we will be releasing Oakville Farmhouse, Nervo Ranch Heritage Wine, and the 2023 Vineyard Under the Mountain. All are unique ancient-vine field blends from distinct terrors from as far north as Geyserville to as far south as Gilroy/Morgan Hill area.

The Heritage Wines are complimented by other wines sourced from vines all planted between 1890 and 1910— Monte Rosso Zinfandel, our second iteration of the great Belloni Vineyard, a juicy and delcious Carignan from Evangelho, and our first, small, offering from the 1910 plantings at Kenwood’s iconic Rossi Ranch.

Those who have not yet placed an order will receive the First-Timers Release on Wednesday, November 5.

Exactly the same here, Nathan. I loved those late '80s/early '90s wines but didn’t love the changes around '95 or so, and moving to Portland opened up a whole new world of wine and friends, so I didn’t buy much US wine for years except for a few OR wines.

2017 Esola was delicious tonight with local shot roast mallard. This the 3rd in the last year that has been standing strong. I think Morgan and Chris would be surprised at how these still have freshness and depth as light as the color has been. Been held super cold since release so maybe that helped, but they’ve all been very solid. Sad to see it’s not in the lineup anymore.

In for a half case, 3 Bedrock and 3 Belloni.

Smallest order in a long time.

Wow, sign of the times when there is no buzz for a Bedrock release. No buzz on the pod, no posting of orders & decisions to be made (except two above). Personally, I’m sleeping on it until tomorrow. Like most I feel, I’ve got a ton of Bedrock in the cellar, but will probably place a small order as a couple favorites are in this release.

I just got my Bedrock summer release. I have a ton of wine incoming this Fall. Combine that with a release that isn’t full of my favorites and well, here we are.

Ive purchased a good deal of Bedrock recently but i’m still planning to pick up a few more bottles. Probably the Bedrock Heritage and wishlist for a couple of the Rossi Ranch (I only got wishlist offering), which i thought was really good during the last pickup day. Planning to open a 2020 Bedrock Heritage tonight as well to confirm that I wanna order some for this release!

I’m in for a mixed case-ish.

  • Even with the increase in price, I can’t say no to Oakville Farmhouse, just a truly unique Napa wine, and who knows how much longer they’ll avoid the encroaching Cabernet…
  • Final rendition of Under the Mountain, which was a favorite in its older iterations (15-17 was a great run at this site), so had to grab some of those (Edit: Looking at the release letter, maybe I understood and this isn’t the last vintage, either way, this is a favorite of mine and I’ll continue to buy it)
  • Evangelho Carignan has rapidly become one of my favorite Bedrock wines, approachable young (and great with pizza), but all the stuffing to turn into something phenomenal
  • Tacked on a single Alta Vista, they got me on the podcast with this one

I tasted the Belloni from Carlisle in barrel with Mike Officer. I can only imagine how good the Bedrock version is going to be. Would love to go deeper on my buys but glad to get this ordered.
