In the camp that this needed more time sideways. Forward and heavy fruit attack with easy to find tannins. Deep purple color and wine was like expected upon viewing. Popped and then minimal decant. Still really primary.
Yep, that sounds about right! I feel like Lorenzoâs is one of the most structured wines that they make (along with Oakville Farmhouse). I legit think the 09 might live forever, ha!
Just had the 2012 Old Vine Zin Sonoma County on Sunday, and itâs drinking really well right now. Still lots of rich fruit, a bit of tannin still, but really open and showy with an hour of air. I realize Bedrock has gotten bigger and needs to source more fruit for the CA bottling now, but these old Sonoma Zins have aged really well.
2017 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Evangelho Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (10/18/2025)
Not decanted but poured in a large Bordeaux stem for 2hrs. Always had a soft spot for Evangelho, the survival story of the vines, and the delicate, unassuming and quiet confidence of the wine itself. This 17 last night was really in the zone and one of the better examples I can recall from recent memory. Gentle strawberry tones have added a darker edge from my last bottle in 2020. Layered, savory, and just the right amount of closing sweetness. Typicity of this site is clear cut, the loamy slightly sandy quality and still snappy acidity. While I donât think Evangelho will ever be a long distance runner, itâs clear this wine at least has benefited tremendously over the last 5 years.
Had this the other night. 2018 Cab Pfeffer, Enz Vineyard. Forgot to grab a pic of the bottle but got one in the glass.
This wasâŚjust ok. Strong acidity which i normally love but the fruit is somewhat muddled and just overall not very exciting. Maybe it needs more time? Maybe this is how Cab Pfeffer is? Not sure but I have 2 more bottles left that I will probably hold for a bit to see what happens.
I love this wine. A bit more savory than some vintages of Bedrock/Bedrock which plays really well with the hint of citrus/orange-peel that makes this vineyard so unique. Drinking incredibly well now as it has for a while, but I have zero doubt it will hold at this level for many, many years and continue to evolve in a very interesting (and delicious) way. Very happy to have quite a few of these in the cellar for the long-haul
Cork issues with this one unfortunately, dried and crumbled. Havenât really had that issue with Bedrock before, win some lose some. The wine was ok but not as expressive as I hoped for.
2017 Bedrock Wine Co. Beduccini - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley (10/21/2025)
open for 30 minutes. Still a nice dark medium purple. Dark berry and cherry nose, little bit of (I agree)

anise. Early taste is big, jammy, a bit hot and bold.
About an hour later, some of the edge has gone, leaving the deep purple fruit flavor with just a little bramble. Lots of spice on the finish, with a little blood orange note of citrus. Pretty good, still forever to go though, so no rush on these.
