I think theyve switched over to their own distillate this year, I’m excite to see how it is
Good prices at Hi Time for EH Taylor Small Batch, and Straight Rye. Good quantity. The tariff impact on exports must be having an effect.
More likely, we’re starting to see the first waves of Buffalo Trace’s production increases hitting the market. They started a massive project to double production just just over 10 years ago… and this is where you’d start to see the impact of that hitting the market. @Kris_Patten can probably tell us more.
I think I said it upthread but ~3 years ago BT had a 25% increase, Blanton’s had a smaller increase too I can’t recall but in the 10-15% range and ER10 was last due to 10 year age statement where BT is 7 years.
Most of the increase went to feed larger States and see what capacity was/is before more moved into midwest or Control States.
Sazerac was great about maintaining your State levels, while they may not have gone up, they never took them down from historical levels unless there were yield issues.
Local Safeway in northern California. First time ive seen these bottles here in a few years. Id leave the blantons at that price still
I love to see it, except for the fact that Steph Curry’s celebrity brand is still twice as much as the stalwarts. Should be on the clearance rack.

Don’t know if this is behind a pay wall, but interesting and “sobering” article about the glut of bourbon.
Article does not talk about the higher end collectibles, but guessing those are also taking somewhat of a hit as well.
“Kentucky is sitting on roughly [16.1 million barrels of bourbon]—the equivalent of around 300 million cases—according to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. That’s the largest reserve ever, enough to last as much as 10 years, according to industry estimates.”
I just hope distilleries hold onto their stock for longer to start releasing higher aged products. I fear some may panic and try and cash out. It will be interesting to see what is on the shelf in 10 years.
Agreed. Wayyy too many super young whiskies in the market.
Agreed with prices in the $50-$60 range for 4-5 year bourbon.
Yup, I’ve seen blantons sitting on shelves in grocery stores, EHT (small batch) sitting around as well. Excess production + the 30-40% price increase, and theyre not selling out immediately anymore.
It’s going to be a painful tipping point for something like Blanton’s when people stop buying just because they believe they better grab a bottle if they see it. More supply. Less demand.
It’s just not a $100 Bourbon. Once all the folks who have a bar, but don’t really drink whisky, get one on their bar for when people come over the brand is going to be in trouble with overstock.
Blanton, ER10, & EHT and such were never meant to be chased, they should be affordable house staples. I remember buying ER10 in 1.75 in the old days without issue.
I know people who have closets full on EHT and Blanton’s because they stocked up during the pandemic. I imagine these people have already stopped buying that’s why its starting to pop up everywhere.
seriously. my first ever pour of Blantons was the most disappointing whiskey experience of my life. its a perfectly acceptable sweet low proof pour and thats the extent of it. ER10 > Blantons all day
You lost me at ER10 > Blantons. I do agree is wildly overrated, but ER10 is disappointing at the $40 price point. ER17 at part of BTAC is almost criminal in terms of it just being a boring pour. Ironically enough, I’m in the process of selling several bottles locally and it’s slow going at $100 (including box and bag), despite the WA tax. Stagg (formerly Stagg Jr) is moving very slowly, as well.
Blanton’s SFTB is a totally different animal, though, and I’m definitely a fan there, although not at $250. Will take Michter’s 10 every day of the week at the same price point.
I’ll take all the Stagg at $64.99 I can get, we aren’t quite there yet but I’m hopeful.
Ive always found ER10 has nice fruit flavors when similar priced products are more spiced/nutty/caramel. Blantons costs more and although slight, the lower proof dilutes a lot of the mouth feel i enjoy in ER10. Subjective flavors wins again!
I am sure SFTB is a fantastic whiskey, my main complaint about Blantons has always been the lower proof/thinner texture.
Is that even the MSRP still? I think it’s around 80 or so
It is here and we aren’t the cheapest state by far. Probably should be $55 in a non control, low tax State .
ER10 historically is my favorite pour under $40…so shame on you…before that is was probably Elijah Craig when it carried the 12 year age on it.
Blanton’s has always been polarizing…some love it, some hate it. People who don’t like it I always point to Woodford DO, Four Roses SBS, or OF1920…there is so much good whiskey when a decade ago Blanton’s was it for $50-60.
EHT is unique in itself and the expressions above Small Batch can all be fantastic at MSRP, Barrel Proof, Rye, etc…
Maybe we can trade your ER 17 for something I have…hit me up.
