K&L has a store pick 7 yr Rittenhouse for $35 that I sure would like to try.
That’s a year beyond their Pikesville which I quite like.

At that price I might have to try one!
yeah I love Pikesville so i might have to go snag a bottle
Years ago I had a pour of Rittenhouse 25 year at The Met Grill in Seattle…bottle was just an orphan on back bar so Rob let me kill it.
Still one of best pours ever and easily the best Rye.
Yeah, those are now legendary.
I have similar tale with the 23 at a whiskey bar but could never find a bottle of any 21/23/25 though around here.
If anybody tries the K&L pick I’d love to hear about it. I emailed their shipper to see if I could order but didn’t get a response.
10 Year Single Barrel from Penelope is off the charts good. Easily, one of the best bourbon’s I’ve tried in a long time. Mine was a store pick from one of the top local liquor stores here in Tampa that has a massive bourbon following. $80 out the door and well worth it. I tried the current 1924 OF 10 year side by side. The OF is very good and this years version is better than the release in 24 but the Penelope was the favorite for everyone.
Penelope is putting out some really cool stuff that offers solid value…buyer beware as we represent it, but you will see a 100pf Everyday Rye, a new Bourbon offering to complement the Wheated released last year and 4 Grain price point so MSRP $34.99-39.99. There is also a Architects of Golf pack coming out that will ultimately have 18 holes, but released 3 holes at a time where every hole has different wood finishes, even with some being things like 6 or 8 unique staves on a barrel for instance.
Alan, I don’t know what a reasonable price is today versus 6 months ago, but I saw the EH Taylor Small Batch at Total Wine in San Ramon on the shelf for $54.99 yesterday. They also had Eagle Rare 10 at 49.99 and Blanton’s at $99.99. All had a limit of 1.
$55 is a great price these days. I have wondered if the tariff fallout with less exports of bourbon would result in more availability here or not. I’ll check out my local Total.
Our store did not have the Weller; otherwise the top shelf looked the same! This store that I went to opened 9+ years ago and I have never seen Blanton’s on the shelf there before yesterday.
My last couple of trips to the grocery store, I have been seeing Eagle Rare, EH Taylor Small Batch, and Blanton’s readily available at msrp. This was unheard of several months to a year ago.
yeah the boom is officially over. I have been seeing EHT and ER all over the place.
side note those 4 roses single barrel barrel strength picks are always amazing, i would have scooped up 1 or 2 of those
Thanks Ed. Was already planning to hit Costco, which is literally next door to my local TW. They had essentially that same display, but no Weller. Also had Old Forester 1924 for a relatively “good” price, which I have not seen before, but a little more than I want to spend on a bottle.
My pleasure, Alan. You helped talk me into picking up one. ![]()
Any opinions on Elijah Craig 15 year Single Barrel at $150?
I will certainly buy the first bottle I see at that price, only because Elijah Craig is my favorite brand. I have a hard time paying that much for bourbon these days since there is so much good stuff under $100. The high proof points makes me think I will like it more than the 18 yr, which is good but vastly overpriced. Also when you see how successful Russell’s Reserve was with their 13 and 15yr bottlings the last 2 years the $150 price doesn’t seem too far off.
