The Bourbon Thread

Tell me you want to trade it for a ton of Floodland

Bundle it with some other stuff…found some ETL 100 Year, CYPB, Weller FP, EHT Amaranth, and a Remus V, whole bunch of stuff that I sorta forgot about.

You do steak, I’ll bring Bourbon back with me.

Woodford Wheat Whiskey, Mike?
Not bourbon, only 20% corn

I’d like to give it a try

I’m looking at the label, you are correct Kentucky straight wheat whiskey.
No matter still delicious!:tumbler_glass:

That Woodford Reserve Wheat was the bottle that got me starting to enjoy whiskey (and bourbon) two years ago. Still enjoy it.

My wife and I were just in Nashville for four days and I tried several whiskeys and bourbons that were new to me. Had my first Blanton’s, which I thought was excellent. I see it’s $130 in stores near me, so not likely to be a regular purchase (I’m trying to stay sub-$100 at this point). Also enjoyed a Chattanooga 111 Cask whiskey from TN. Thought that was nice at a lower price point ($45-50, I believe).

I’ve got a bottle of the Chattanooga 111 and also think it’s quite good for how young it is

Is that only available from them locally or is that distributed?

I have this one as well as the rye barrel strenght…Have not opened the bourbon but the rye is worth seeking out as well. Not answering for Andrew, but I think the Fort Nelson is only available at the distillery.

I waited in line at the Distillery/Store in Louisville and tapped it out of the barrel.

My understanding is that they sell barrel strength bourbon to the public, but distribution is limited to the state of Kentucky.

I asked specifically about the “Fort Nelson” branding on this and other bottles available in the store and was told by two different sales people that the juice was the same.

My oldest is in Cincinnati and Louisville regularly for buisness he picked up the bourbon there.I picked up the rye locally at Total wine.I haven’t seen the bourbon in these parts so you may be right about the Kentucky only part.As a side note the single barrel rye is my house rye, tremendous value at $50.

Wow Mike, that’s an awesome price! Never seen it under list MSRP.

Costco Al.I have been seeing it around quite a bit but not at that price.Might get another this weekend.

I just bought this bottle from a friend for $150:

Michter’s Limited Release Barrel Strength, 112.8 proof, Barrel # 21J2885.

I can’t find any reviews of this barrel, and have never had any Michter’s Bourbon (I mostly cotton to Islay Malts). Can anyone here tell me what to expect?

Good stuff. Classic rye, but is going to pack the heat, so make sure your room temp isn’t super warm when you drink. One of my favorites, and I love the orange note you get with these.

Has always been my favorite. Recently I’ve been able to score some Templeton 10 year Rye. It’s excellent and a bit easier to find and well worth the $89 cost.
