I think this is just related to their tuesday sale, their regular price is $1k, pretty much standard. The price of a lot of high end champagne is going up and shows no sign of slowing, at least to me. The one exception is 2008 Krug, which went up to almost $1000 for awhile and has settled down to around $400 now.
I think that’s because it’s showing so terribly. Most don’t want to sit on their 15 year old champagne for another 10 years for it to be drinkable. $400 is almost the going price for 164eme now because it’s similar juice but showing so much better. I expect the 08 will shoot up down the road like the 96 when it hits that same drinking window.
the sale is for all still red wines. They do it like twice a year and their regular price is still 400. I don’t think it’s a sign of anything. A couple years ago they sold DRC RSV and Riche at this sale for 1500/btl, look at the price now.
as far as Allemand, there are a lot of retailers who are trying to gauge on this wine. But the market does not respond. If you are patient you can normally find for $350 or a little less.
maybe but that’s not what we are talking about. We are discussing present vintages. When he retires older vintages may or may not shoot up. But I don’t know why future vintages NOY made by Thierry would drastically increase.
NOVA Berserkers, our local Total Wines have 2021 Prum and haven’t updated pricing for the WS Kabinett or GH Auslese 750ml. $31 and $44 respectively (I didn’t pass, but sharing the love)
That’s an extremely good price. I didn’t see that or would have bought a ton at that price. Obviously, you should have a lot of the 08 750s first before stocking up on mags.
