Season in South Florida

So the $85 menu sounds good for Laurie and I. We will bring two Italian reds (I’ll see if I can pull off the same wine so everyone gets a good pour). May also bring bubbly to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

And to confirm, ALL WINES WILL BE BLINDED???

Tried to respond to your last comment via e-mail but sis not go through. You can NEVER have too much bubbly so I am all good with your selections. And I really do like the idea of the Franciacorta as a special Italian bubbly, Good move. If I was to make one comment around the Roederer it would be this is the type of evening where a vintage champagne would not be out of place.

Her Royal Highness wants to know how dressy Union Kitchen is.

I’m cool with serving all bottles blind.

I will bring a Durand, just in case.

It looks pretty casual to me:

Ball gown with sparkling jewels!!

But what does SHE wear?

Whatever is comfortable. My wife typically goes jeans and a nice top or a less formal dress. Nothing too over the top - comfortable is key. It’s not fussy at all.

We are in for an Italian red and a French red.

Ok, got it. For some reason, I can’t edit my posts in this thread. Once I figure out what’s going on I’ll revise my prior post to reflect that, one red Italian and one red French. Thanks.

So far, we have 2 whites and 8 reds. :rofl:

I also have a white Burg I can bring to balance it out if we need it

I can do a white burg and a red burg if that helps

That would be great. Thanks Raul.

Done. :+1:t3:

I’ll do a red. If we are still missing whites, I could also do a white

Thanks JP. With Raul’s help, I think we should be good.

Here’s the current lineup:

@P_Bennett (1) - White Italian
@J_Cangiano (1) - Red Italian
@ErnestL (1) - Sparkling
@Scott_Brunson (2) - White Burgundy
@R_Puga (2) - Red Burgundy + White Burgundy
@Mariano_Chiaramonte (1) - Red Italian
@jp_trevino (1) - Red
@mhgreen (2) - Red Italian (x2)
@david_lazer (2) - Red Italian + Red French

Please let me know if I got anything wrong.

Proposed Blind Tasting Flights

If the above is accurate, we have 3 whites and 8 reds to go with our 4 courses. For the blind tasting, we can have 3 flights (happy to adjust as desired):

  • 1st Flight (3 whites): Mix of 1 Italian white + 2 white Burgundy, with the apps and salad
  • 2nd Flight (4 reds): Mix of French and Italian reds, with the main
  • 3rd Flight (4 reds): All Italian reds, also with the main

This is my first time at a blind tasting, so I’m very open to suggestions. Looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying some amazing wines!

Sounds good. Does anyone have Blind Tasting bags they can bring or are we on our own?

I’ll probably just wrap mine in tinfoil

If we do this more frequently I’ll get HRH to sew some bags. She did it for the SC crew, and made special ones with the CellarTracker logo for one of the Charleston Offlineoramas.

I can bring 10 tasting bags

I’m counting 4 whites and 1 sparkling; other than that, this looks good. I’m fine with whatever on tasting flights. Thanks!
