With being new to the list (Jan was first offering), and with the price rise meaning secondary prices are not much different I did not see much need to go much deeper right now.

Looks like they raised prices $3 from last release, last release $132 / $156 this release $135 / $159 hope itās not a trend
WS just gave the 20 JBV a 96. Thatās almost a typical score as they usually get 95 to 98. I agree that they are not made to drink young.
Think the nominal price increase is because of the heat he took for the large price increase after holding pricing for so long. No one likes to see the price go up, but better incrementally than by a large percentage.

2021 Broken Stones ($135), 2021 James Berry Vineyard Red ($135), 2021 James Berry Vineyard White ($135), 2020 Bone Rock ($159), and a new cuvƩe, our 44 month barrel aged 2019 Saxum Somnus ($159).
2021 Broken Stones 1.5 L ($270), 2021 James Berry Vineyard, ($270) 1.5 L, 2020 Bone Rock 1.5 L ($318), and 2019 Somnus 1.5 L ($318).
New wine Somnus added to the line-up.

Somnus, named after the Roman god of sleep because this wine gets to sleep an extra year in barrel! 44 months, slumbering away. Back in 2019 we had a couple of amazing lots in our cellar that were so unique, and so incredible, I really wanted to showcase them. The problem was they were also extremely structured. The original plan was to give them the 33 month elevage like Bone Rock and Rocket Block, but when it came time to bottle it last year it was still too beastly. Think velvet glove in an iron gauntlet. We tucked it back in, let it sleep another whole year, and when it woke up this time, it blew us all away. It is something unique for sure. Still a beast, but something very special. Something that I believe could only happen here on the Central Coast.

Iāll be a buyer tomorrow for sure. Their extended barrel wines have been tremendous over the years!
The email indicates a 2020 Rocket Block.
That wine was released in the Fall of 2023.

My mistake. It is the 2020 Bone Rock.
In an stung a littleā¦ kept it down to 12+1 but had to bite since 2021 Paso will be a great vintage
Surprised to see the Somnus magnum was still available.
Itās all I took. Will see what happens in about 10 years

I only grabbed a couple for a friend who is still waiting to get on the list, most of my allocation when back to others. I think another winery where i have more than enough
Which is better - JBV or Broken Stones?
That is like asking which is your favorite child. That being said āoverallā I like the JBV better than Broken Stones. But only by a hair, they are both fantastic wines.

JBV is more Grenache, while Broken Stones is more Syrah, if that helps.

Off the waitlist and received my 1st allocation today after signing up for the waitlist in 7/2019.
I was offered:
2021 Broken Stones ($135) x 3
2021 James Berry Vineyard Red ($135) x 1
I saw in the waitlist time thread and some were only offered 1 bottle of each, so they must have sold rather quickly to the people that received their 1st allocation today.
Took my full allocation and was pleasantly surprised with free temp controlled ground shipping.
