Retailer Check: Vint Marketplace (Washington, D.C.)

True that. My thumb hurts from scrolling past all of them and the auctions every wine.

One thing I appreciate about Vint is that their listings are clear about which wines are in stock and ready to ship vs. pre-arrival.

I’m scrolling past the stuff that is not here in the US yet.

I’ve been trying to reach out.

Timeline:

Sept 18, I contact them asking for my 6-bottles to be shipped to CA.
Sept 19, They reply: “Thank you for reaching out. Our team is currently experiencing a high volume of requests, but we are actively working on yours and will get back to you as soon as possible. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.”
Sept 23: I send an email saying that I’m still waiting for a follow-up.
Sept 25 (today): I have just sent another email.

EDIT: Still no contact. I’m calling them on Monday.

I am having similar issue reaching out to them to schedule shipment. No response after 5 business days. They seem to have become not responsive lately.

I tried calling the phone number on their website, but it appears to be no longer in service. I have not had a response to two emails I have sent about arranging for delivery of wine they say is ready to ship and purchasing additional wine that is in stock according to their website.

These are not encouraging datapoints.

Does anyone have direct contact information for any owners or employees of the firm?

FWIW, I had a pre-arrrival wine order delivered two weeks ago, no problem.

My last communication was Aug 13 before radio silence, hoping they are just backed up with weather appropriating shipping.

Perhaps, but allowing the phone number on your website to go out of service, and not responding to an inquiry to buy $2,500 of supposedly in stock wine is no way to run a business and one could be forgiven for drawing worst case scenario conclusions from those facts.

Oddly all the wines on the website, unless I missed something, are listed as “in stock.” They used to have a ton of pre-arrivals.

They used to offer Thousands of bottles on pre arrival. With 6 packs & full cases being the norm.

They ceased that in Spring, i.e. a few weeks after Tarrifs went up. One reason many of us are so apprehensive about this lack of communication or out of service reports.

They keep recording and posting Big Name Podcasts, but the Marketplace got basically eliminated. Albeit with lots of orders outstanding. So, we hope that those orders come through. Delayed or not, tarrifs added or not (although they did suggest they’d hold a lot of things in Bond for 6 months to see what happens with Tarrifs. If you ordered things back in Winter or Spring & have bottles outstanding).

Also, Adam, the Vint Champion on here & a main reason why so many of us ordered from them, has left the company awhile back. And a not a single Vint affiliated person has stepped up in that absence.

I was able to find a few folks on LinkedIn that appear to have been and perhaps still are associated with Vint, and have sent them messages over LinkedIn. Somewhat disturbingly, the individual whose bio states he was/is the founder and CEO, appears to have another gig as well.

It’s unfortunate that the elections made (eg deselecting auctions) are not sticky

This reads poorly. @A_Rubin_Stein what would am attorney be doing in this situation to recover wine

Fair to say the owners took $ and bought wine abroad. Closed up shop in US and the wine abroad was an asset they kept for themselves?

I think thats getting pretty speculative with no real information available.

I think if anybody has wine that is marked as having arrived but they aren’t able to get ahold of anybody to ship out the wine, they could try to initiate a chargeback and see if that is able to get anything moving.

I have ordered and received a ton of wine from vint; I still have some pre-arrival Yquem pending that I reached out to them about (although it doesn’t appear to be stateside yet).

The host of their podcast and head of marketing (Billy Galanko) just left for wine.com.

Of course it is speculative. This forum has many jumping in to defend what ultimately turns out to be frauds (I took down my posts, regrettably, in the Wine Connections situation). Here we have an unresponsive business, a delisted phone number, multiple employees have switched jobs including at the top.

I am owed a couple mags of 2019 PLL - I would like to be proactive with other creditors/customers before writing them off.
