In addition, I am hoping Don and Johanna (iOTA) put together a package (or two) of some of their older Pinot Noir bottlings. Right now the 2012 and 2013 are in a wonderful place. The 2014 is just about there. I’ll be spending an evening with the 2015 tonight, but suspect it still can really benefit from some time (I’ll come back and edit perhaps - it’s sitting in a decanter in my cellar presently. EDIT: 4-hour decant, and it’s wonderful - much nicer than when I popped and poured one a month or so ago). iOTA has become a “go to” Oregon winery for me. Don and Johanna both are really great folks.
Also will likely be ordering some Patricia Green Cellars, some Goodfellow Family Cellars. Along with iOTA, those two wineries make up the bulk of my Oregon Pinot Noir sitting in the cellar. Also some Goodfellow Chardonnay (I’m not much of a Chardonnay/white wine drinker, but one of my best friends, his kid, and my kid all are, so it’s decades-past time I cellar some of that good stuff).
Finally, an assortment from others. Getting excited!!
I’m glad to read this. I went in on a three-pack last year but haven’t opened one yet. Assuming I have the opportunity, I will look to start a mini-vertical based on the positive vibes.
Just finished a bottle of Pietro’s 2019 Sangiovese. There are few who bring such an authentic sensibility to farming and winemaking with Italian varieties in California. Every time I have a Prima Materia I’m surprised about the quality and value.
Thank you for mentioning Six Cloves! I am excited to let you know that I will be participating in the BD Day event once again this year. I’m looking forward to seeing both new and familiar supporters of Six Cloves!
Thanks a lot for mentioning about the six cloves! I really appreciate it!
I’m thrilled to be joining BD again this year. I’m excited to have a fantastic time with all our fellow Berserkers at the event!
NOSE: big nose; expressive and sonorous especially for the age. If served blind, I might have guessed a New World Zin or Red Blend; think Ridge or Charles Krug. Not Turley - it would have faded by now.
BODY: robust and youthful with tannins receding a pinch; a real stunner.
TASTE: a symphony of flavors; mature and refined with some tawdriness – reminiscent of Stravinsky minus the riotous crowds; could benefit from some short-term cellaring but really, how long do you want to wait? Day 3: doing good; some rosin characteristics. This is a classic Todd_French. Drink on January 26th. (89 points PT, 98 points JS)
