Official Costco Thread

Haven’t poked in this tread for a while. For the most part, I have just given up on Costco outside of some of the Kirkland wines and bubbles.

Probably going to add on the Scharffenberger Brut Rose to my house rotation if they continue to sell it at the $20 price point.

But the 2018 Kirkland Rioja Reserva is really good on day 2. When they have a good vintage, these are just a great value at $7.99. Hard to argue with them

Shocker. Some Bordeaux has made it to South Florida.

Which store?

Boca

That is made by Vina Eguia, a big Pernod Ricard property, if you were ever looking for it after it has sold through. Tends to run double the price under its own brand.

Really? Wine-searcher shows 2014 Romanee Conti GC is around 20k…

Really? Wine-searcher shows 2014 Romanee Conti GC is around 20k…

1 DRC flagship $25K
1 Echezeau $2.5K
1 Grand Echezeau $3K
1 La Tache $8K

And those values are generous. 2014 is not an epic year. But best case, this is worth $38.5K. unless you value the wood box at 16.5K.

I’d be a buyer at $32K.

But would like to see Costco carry some DRC, even offer it close to cost, which is around $1500 a bottle on la tache.

Am going to be in Phoenix area next week. Which is the best Costco for wine selection?

I’ve seen DRC both in the MTV and RWC locations. I can’t find the one from RWC, but IIRC, it didn’t have RC/LT, but did have RSV. The MTV DRC pic I took was back in Dec 22, 2022.

Used to be North Scottsdale store…now its a tossup between that one (Hayden rd) and Paradise Valley location (Cactus rd).

Just general question: Do Costco normally starts to carry Bordeaux from 4 years ago around March/April?

So next year around March time we should see 2020 Bordeaux showing up?

I don’t think this big wave of 2019 Bordeaux, much less this wave of Bordeaux at far below current market prices, is any sort of an annual occurrence at Costco.

Costcos carry a few Bordeaux from year to year, but this dump of wines going on right now, and this kind of extremely favorable pricing, I think is something that’s only happened a few times before.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

It would be an * and $31,999.97 if you get that deal. :joy:

They do BDX futures every year. The amount of skus and cases of 2019 is really the outlier here. I would assume 2020 will be about 60% of what 2019 was/is since times were much different when futures occurred.
