Haven’t poked in this tread for a while. For the most part, I have just given up on Costco outside of some of the Kirkland wines and bubbles.
Probably going to add on the Scharffenberger Brut Rose to my house rotation if they continue to sell it at the $20 price point.
But the 2018 Kirkland Rioja Reserva is really good on day 2. When they have a good vintage, these are just a great value at $7.99. Hard to argue with them
That is made by Vina Eguia, a big Pernod Ricard property, if you were ever looking for it after it has sold through. Tends to run double the price under its own brand.
I’ve seen DRC both in the MTV and RWC locations. I can’t find the one from RWC, but IIRC, it didn’t have RC/LT, but did have RSV. The MTV DRC pic I took was back in Dec 22, 2022.
I don’t think this big wave of 2019 Bordeaux, much less this wave of Bordeaux at far below current market prices, is any sort of an annual occurrence at Costco.
Costcos carry a few Bordeaux from year to year, but this dump of wines going on right now, and this kind of extremely favorable pricing, I think is something that’s only happened a few times before.
They do BDX futures every year. The amount of skus and cases of 2019 is really the outlier here. I would assume 2020 will be about 60% of what 2019 was/is since times were much different when futures occurred.
Not shocking this is available in Silicon Valley’s Costco. Curious, what other wine they are offering at this location…@j_sun please snap photos next time you’re back there, thx!
