It’s a reflection in the change in market pricing between EP and today. 2019 EP was priced low because of Covid ; restaurants weren’t buying ; some stores weren’t buying. And bordeaux priced for the uncertainty.

But as it turned out, wine consumption went up with people at home and prices caught up. Many bottles are at 2-3x of primeur pricing now.

When Costco prices at EP+5%, that’s a big difference between 2019 market price. But Costco is doing what it’s always done.

2000, 2008, and 2019 were the reset years for BDX pricing.

Since Costco cant price to market and must not exceed a 13.9% margin, everyone gets a great deal on wine purchased almost 3 years ago.

4 years ago? How’d that worked out? Isnt 2019 is what happening now and 2008 (last reset) should be available around 2012?

So 4 years ago should be the vintage of 2015…?

Corrected above to 3 years ago. 2020.

I remember the EP prices for 2009 BDX was really cheap due to the great recession… until RP scores came out!

Costco didn’t order a bunch of 2009 or 2010 so I recall the laments of limited selection.

2019 was just perfect timing for selection and pricing.

Yeah…too bad I didnt see these info until 3 days ago…
and all I was able to find is d’Issan…which is still good…but no where close to Palmer and PLL that I dreamed for…

The brief appearance by the Bordeaux fairy is over now. Not a single one today. Only one Bordeaux, an inexpensive 2018.

I just called MTV location and ask them when they are getting more and if that would ever happened.
The guy told me I am being trolled by online strangers as the system shows the product is dated 2019 and we are in 2023 now…( Provided some item number from this thread to ask)

(Facepalm)

Shelf life of wine is like eggs or milk… you drink something 4 years old and you’ll get sick!

I won’t. I can help you consume all the expired wine…

As of this morning, the Danville Costco has less than a dozen bottles of the 2019 Haut Bailly for $86 and the 2019 D’Issan for $46.

The Lomita location (off Sky Park) is, and has been for a few weeks now, essentially reverted to its normal wasteland self. IIRC, they might have some Nenin, '18 PB second, and I think that’s it — nothing I’m interested in. But all of this is likely good, as it’s nice not be banished to the couch …

The Burnsville Costco has the 2019 Fontodi CC marked down to 29.97. It got my attention.
