Did they have that dom 3 pack there?

Did you buy any? Interested to see how that drinks given the ā€œ97ā€ Vinous score and the ā€œsearing tanninsā€

I did not, unfortunately. I have overbought this week and my conscience, I mean wife, was with me.

lol.

Though I have my eye on an online auction lot of Bruno Giacosa that may make up for my disappointment.

Didn’t see it. Saw Cristal at $199. Didn’t notice any Dom 3 packs, but then again I wasn’t looking as closely in that section.

North Phoenix (cactus rd) location has some new/interesting stuff.

2013 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc ($99)
2013 Owen Rowe Pinot Sojourner ($33)
Cameron Hughes lot 484 2013 Meritage, Napa Valley
Cameron Hughes lot 539 2015 Pinot, Oregon

$89 is a solid price. I’ve only seen it for $99 here in AZ.

Aubry NV Brut - $33.95

For that price, i’m drinking grower every day until the stash runs out.

SA, TX

At the Sherman Oaks, Ca Costco today. Ramos Pinto LBV 2011 and Dom '06 with two flutes for $15 cheaper than the single bottle of Dom '06 sitting a couple bottles over. Makes no sense… Bought a couple bottles of the LBV to try out.

Southlake Costco. Case buy all day long.

Is this new? I don’t remember seeing it around last year…Anyone try it yet?

John, which store in SA? In in for that too.

Road testing Kirkland CdR and CCR tonight. Both great for the money. Obviously, CdR is riper and CCR is fresher, but both are respectactable for the price. You could do much worse. Would probably rebuy the CCR if I was looking for more wine in this price range. [cheers.gif]

Here’s a review published today on the Costco Wine Blog:

2nd night. CdR and CdR are both rather wonderful for the price. Perfect wine for a non-wine people party.

My first experience of Kirkland wines. I must say that somebody at Costco knows what they are doing. Kudos!

Is this other people’s experience? Is it that good?

Also how does it compare with the 2012?

I’m skeptical. I’m a big fan of Monsanto CCR. I’ll add that IMO Monsanto CCR needs about three more years after release to show its best, then drinks well for several years, with vintage strength factoring into the overall length of that window. I think I’ve consumed all of my '07s (the first year I bought) but they should still be going strong based on the last bottle I tried. The '08s I enjoyed less overall. The '09, '10 and '11 are all drinking well, and a sample bottle of '12 was way too young. So while I would expect that Monsanto CCR would crush Kirkland CCR, I really don’t expect the just-released vintage of Monsanto to show that well. That’s just my opinion of course. However, in my experience the mystery brands, store brands, relabeled brands, etc., that are supposed to be just as good as the better-known brand very seldom are. Maybe never. There are brands that do very well with this model, and there’s value there if you like the product, but I’ve found it’s best to be skeptical.

Even so, next time I’m there I’ll grab a bottle and give it a try.

It could have been a food pairing problem. Instead of pasta, you should have Kirkland meat. That would have really brought out the nuances, given their common terroir.

I had the '12 Kirkland CCR once and wasn’t blown away.
