Had an outstanding meal at Yong Chuan. I emailed prior and pre-negotiated $100 flat for 6 bottles. They happily provided 2 (real) glasses per person. Didn’t inquire about dump buckets.
Unsurprisingly, I suppose, the Clos de Goisses '04 and Marcel Deiss Schlossberg '16 paired incredibly well, while the Clape Saint Peray and Paolo Bea Santa Chiara couldn’t quite hold up and felt kinda flat.
Had a great meal at Misi in Williamsburg. $45 per
The wine service around that fee was top notch, even recognizing the option of me pouring as we need after the first 'top-off; was attempted. Better glasses, asked about decant of the older Barolo and sincere insight into helping serve these wines at their best.
Did Al Badawi on the UES last Saturday night. Middle Eastern (they call it Palestinian) food was EXCELLENT. NO CORKAGE. Shitty glasses. I would go back!
Any suggestion for a Monday-after-work dinner within walking distance from Astor Place (ie east/west village) that won’t charge an arm and a leg for opening 3-4 bottles? Have done a few of the WB events at Noreetuh but something along those lines would be great!
That’s been a regular thing since pretty much they opened. I think I was there three times and I just prefer other steakhouses. Not that I go to steakhouses much but a good place to go with my Bordeaux group.
