Going to Phish at the Sphere next week and it’s been a few years for us since visiting.
We will have one high end meal Wednesday, but Thurs-Sat doesn’t work for high end dining with early shows.
Any recommendations for unique stuff that’s pre-concert type food that’s open earlier? (Or even breakfast, although we will do Bouchon Sun probably)
We had a nice one years ago at Yardbird and typically did Lotus (but our last one was slightly disappointing).
Went to U2 3 times at the Sphere. Not what Id call unique but you can find quality food and cocktails in the Venetian to pre-game and be a 5 minute indoor walk to the venue. We did Lotus one night and while not what it was still good and around the corner as is Lawreys for Prime Rib
As long as you are not going to the first show, you should be able to get data on when the concert starts at setlist.fm
With the show like this the start from night tonight is pretty consistent. U2 was advertised as an 8 o’clock start but that was for this kind of lame DJ and the band took the stage right around 830 most nights. I started walking over from the place I went for a drink in the Venetian before the show at 8 o’clock. By 810 I was walking in the venue and by 820 I was in my seat.
The venue has plenty of bathrooms, concession stands, and bars, if you need any of that
You may know this, there are three entrances to the Sphere. No clue which is fastest. I expect to use the bridge as staying over at Venetian/Palazzo. I expect I will head over an hour early just to check things out.
This is a good idea. For Dead and Co we have one nice meal planned (non show night) and the night we have tickets maybe we’ll grab a burger or some tacos or something casual at the Venetian then walk over to the show. Good to see we can get in within ~20 minutes.
That’s what we did too-going over and in was pretty easy. Coming out was congested but it was fine. There was some time around the F1 race where the bridge was closed-that caused some chaos for those at Venetian. Just hope that doesn’t happen.
There is like 100 restaurants a Venetian/Palazzo-reservations might be tough at this point but there are plenty of options that don’t require a reservation.
Went back to my notes to Read since i kept thinking about it.
Apologies as I searched my list and I see it was a steakhouse at Fontainebleau that is ott from descriptions.
Would also love to hear about Emmitt’s restaurant, and I remember now that we considered it for Sunday brunch (which is a bit odd for a steakhouse?)
I actually grew up in Vegas, but left there MANY years ago. I have gotten back pretty much every year for the last 20 years or so to attend a conference, which occurs again next week.
For the last several years I’ve taken some colleagues to Lotus of Siam (which i first went to at the original location in the Colonial Village Shops.) It’s been great, but I’ve been seeing they may have lost a step of late.
I was hoping to get to Sawaan based on reccos hear but having reached out was advised that they are closed, and relocating but will be opening under a new name this summer.
This leaves me without a plan for a dinner party of 8 next Thursday. Any other inputs on good food with (expense account accessible) wine that I might try?
Crapped out on Esther’s and LoS, and am not much of a fan of Carson’s Kitchen…
Staying at Resorts World that night, but pretty much anywhere a short ride from the Strip would work…
I’m going to be in town next week, too, for a conference.
Have you been to Lamaii? Bank Atcharawan’s brother, Bon, now runs the two restaurants, one in Chinatown and one in Henderson. Food is good (better than that which is currently served at LoS).
I think you meant to write that LoS’ original location was in the Commercial Center on E Sahara.
I had a fantastic dinner at 00 Pie & Pub last month. It’s pretty casual with lots of beer and cocktail options with some insane pizza and great apps. They are trying to replicate a tokyo style pizza shop
