Las Vegas

I need a recommendation from you guys and gals. I have a client that wants to take me out to dinner on a Friday night in Las Vegas. He requested me to make a reservation. His only requirement is “I prefer red meat and red wine”. So I’m guessing that means steakhouse or similar beef centric venue. My requirments are 1) I want someplace that takes a reservation, 2) I can still get a reservation for Friday night March 1st, 3) Beef on the menu, 4) Good wine list that any of us would be happy ordering off of and 2) in the Aria, a short walk from the Aria or a quick taxi ride from the Aria (it is Friday night after all ) which I’m guessing would be someplace close to the Strip. Money is NOT a major consideration although something “reasonable for Vegas” would be better so he doesn’t think I’m taking him for a ride.

One or two suggestions needed in case I cannot get a reservation at number one then I’ll try number two. I want to keep this simple and quick.

TIA.

Next door to Aria is STK in the Cosmo. Decent spot. Wine list is ok

CUT in Venetian is great and has a decent wine list

Delmonico also in the Venetian is old school, should def be able to get a res and has a great wine list. I just perused it a couple months ago and lots of stuff that’s well priced.

I think the best meat centric restaurant on the Strip is Bazaar Meat, followed by Craftsteak. Both are relatively easy to book and both are excellent. Harlo is likely too far, but I ate great steak dinner there last week, as posted above.

Although not a steakhouse, the Nomad Library next door to the Aria at the Park MGM has one of the best prime ribs I’ve ever had. The wine list is excellent.

I also thought Delmonico was very good and the wine list is excellent.

Jean Georges in the Aria is definitely worth a look. We’ve been there a couple of times. Delmonico’s has been a frequent stop because of their corkage policy and we’ve never been disappointed.

I’ve been to Jean Georges in the Aria twice and have been unimpressed both times

We had a great night at Bazaar Meats but if atmosphere is a priority it was a let down. Staying at Cosmo and walking through the Sahara casino is umm interesting. The restaurant felt more like a banquet hall with all the sliding curtains. But the food and Somm were awesome and I would most definitely got back.

How about one of the old school places? Those are the ones I tend to remember since it’s a pretty unique scene to Vegas.

I’d take at least one interesting wine wherever you go, your client will appreciate the substantial savings.

Been twice as well and we can agree to disagree. Off the top of my head been to Prime, Cut, Delmonico’s, Stripsteak, Smith & Wollensky and Heritage. They are all just steakhouses in Las Vegas. When I went with a group we favored Delmonico’s because they don’t have a two bottle limit. Otherwise, I’m wouldn’t necessarily leave my hotel for another Vegas steakhouse hence my Jean Georges recommendation.

To be fair I was at JG for the Heritage finals so it was a large group with a very limited menu. The experience might be better in a more normal setting

But I cook better steak than what I had all the time

been to Lamaii 3 times last couple months. Love it. Does Sawaan still exist?

Yes.

Message Bank via Instagram for reservations.

He cooked for us last month. Good to see him back in the kitchen and enjoyed his cooking, as I always do.

Bank’s brother, Bon, and Bon’s wife now run Lamaii

Via Patio Wine Garden?

Yes. Sawaan is in The Patio space and Bank hasn’t yet created a reservation system for Sawaan.

Visited Sawaan about a month ago. The crab coconut curry was absolutely outstanding. Drank a bottle of Tissot Chardonnay Rose, and it made for a great night!

We visited Sawaan about a month ago as well. Had a great meal and a nice chat with Bank. The restaurant was not nearly as busy as it should have been on a Friday night (only two other tables occupied), although people were starting to come in when we were leaving at 8:45. We booked by messaging via the Sawaan Instragam account. Took a few days for a response, but it worked.

I neglected to take a photo of the wine list, although it seemed that many were in the 1.5x or so mark-up range. We had the 2021 Clos Cibonne Tibouren Speciale des Vignettes for $55, which was beautiful and a nice pair for a mix of dishes. We will happily go back on our next visit to LV.

Cheers,

Steve

Adding the 2-page menu for the night of our visit. Sorry for poor photo quality photo. The restaurant was extremely dark and we could only read the menu via our iPhone Flashlight.

Any suggestions for “classic” steakhouse by Fremont? Going with a friend out to Vegas, neither of us have been to Fremont in years, so we figured we’ll head there Friday - Saturday we have Dead and Co tix so will stay closer to the strip.

If we can BYO or have corkage that is a plus though if it has a really nice wine list I can also buy off a list. Someone suggested Oscars - anyone else have suggestions?

Hugo’s in the Four Queens was the downtown classic. Haven’t been in years.

I’ll have a look - thanks!

Vic & Anthony’s, Hugo and Binion are my top three.
