This is correct - “standard” pours. But to your point they are a bit light in volume.
BTW, was this poll to disclose whisky consumption as well? Asking for a friend.
I probably average 3 glasses a night, generally take a night or two off a week.
Lol.
Sometimes it’s about saving money and sometimes it’s not. Many times we will opt for non-alcoholic cocktails or Japanese soda’s at restaurants. Restaurant prices here for 2 people anywhere decent is around $300 which for us isn’t in the budget anymore.
I agree that wine has interesting flavors/aromas/textures that feel pretty exclusive to wine/fermentation.
I’ve had some customers come in saying their doctor prescribed them to drink wine. I’m sure you’re just ahead of the game!
I am thinking that many of the answers are fudged a little bit…
Berserkers: Here is my 4901830183041 tasting notes.
Also Berserkers: I don’t drink.
I wonder if health insurance companies read message boards?
I rarely drink. In fact, I don’t drink at all. I buy bottles because I like the labels. I buy multiples in case the labels get scratched.
My wife and I usually share a bottle of wine with dinner four to six days a week. The one thing I’ve learned is that, for me, drinking after dinner or exceeding the half-bottle limit usually results in a really bad night’s sleep.
RANT: I think the neo-prohibitionists are hard at work trying to convince everyone that drinking is evil. My health organization (Kaiser) harps constantly about alcohol, yet says nothing about sugar or other processed food consumption and says little about exercise or weight control. Personally, I enjoy wine. Taking it away would eliminate one of the joys in my life. Outside of beer and cycling, it’s a hobby that has introduced me to many wonderful and interesting people and kept me engaged mentally in a larger world.
Exactly.
I own glasses and corkscrews because it would look weird if I only had the bottles. I like to have the matching theme as decor.
Pretty much same here - we open a bottle most days, so I probably drink 1/3 to 1/2 bottle 5-6 times a week. I found that the best way to mitigating adverse effects, besides having a very active lifestyle and healthy diet, is drinking earlier in the day (usually done at 8pm) rather than drinking less.
My Gi guy said a glass with meals actually helps digestion and can help ward off gallbladder issues, I know there’s numerous other factors.
We have a nice meal and wine on Saturday nights, usually a white or bubbles with hors’derves in the late afternoon/early evening and red with the main course. Occasionally a half bottle during the week if I make something fancy or that screams for a specific pairing.
Where our consumption ramps up is holidays, have it guests, vacation.
More than i should (for health) but less than enough for how much I enjoy wine.
Never want to get too comfortable on consumption.
At least a bottle every other night…the nights I don’t work…and the days I’m off, we open 2 bottles, one red/white, and my wife and I usually finish the two.
Then there’s the offlines and wine dinners…
I wasn’t counting the offlines and gatherings as those truly are special occasion events, and only like 2x per week…
I finish 5-7 bottles a week.
1-2 glasses a day for men; 1 glass a day for women actually lowers Blood Pressure and cholesterol more than if you are a teetotaler.
The numbers, however, start to head back up if you exceed that amount.
Hence, I ask my wife to bring me my “medicine” each and every night
Bravo, that’s quite the tolerance. Most nights I can do a bottle or close to it and feel fine, which I’ve always felt is pretty above average tolerance. But I do drink 2-3 quarts of water every day and that helps keep my body hydrated which I find nearly eliminates any typical “hangover” effect caused by dehydration. But when my wife and I finish 2 bottles, I definitely feel it the next morning. 3 bottles and we both feel it the next morning but it probably means we had a good night.
This is me, but I might be a combo of 3 drinks vs 3 glasses of wine depending on what I’m in the mood for….
