How often and how much

2 glasses a night, but what I imagine are smaller pours, as it looks to be between 1/4 and 1/3 of a bottle. Weekends I do “healthier” pours

Me too, about 2 - 3 on average, more at a party then less the next night🙄

Between 1/3 and 2/3 of a bottle each evening which I hope is quite moderate for my weight (88 kg over 6 ft)…

Pretty much clockwork: A glass of wine or ~8 oz of good beer with dinner during the week. Cocktail + split a bottle of wine with my wife Friday and Saturday.
Occasionally: dinner with friends or family where we pop corks and drink a bunch.

I drink about one bottle twice a week. 6’4", 260.

Only alcohol I consume.

Cheers

I average 5-7 glasses per week, where I’m pretty sure a glass was defined by someone long ago as 5 oz at 12% abv. Yes, thanks to my Coravin, I actually give myself smaller pours when the abv is higher.

I should add that anything more than one glass messes with my sleep.

My bride and I share a bottle 1 or 2 nights a week.

For reference:

I consider a glass of wine to be 5 ounces, which believe is a formal gummint definition:

A drink of alcohol is considered 0.6oz:
5 ounces of wine @ 12% = .6oz of alcohol (but hah! Just try to find that 12% wine)
12 ounces of beer @ 5% = .6oz of alcohol (but hah! Just try to find that 5% beer)
1.5 ounces of spirits @ 40% = .6oz of alcohol (I don’t know what is typical as I never touch the stuff)

40% = 80 proof, and just try finding an 80 proof liquor (whiskey is mostly 86 anyway).

375 ml a night. When I open a bottle, I pour half of the wine into a split with a screw top. Then drink the rest of the bottle over the evening.:slightly_smiling_face:

I drink wine with dinner. Use your imagination

first read of this I get the sense everyone is buying more than they’re drinking
or the ones that are drinking more aren’t talking
as the old saying goes
a bottle of wine is probably fine, a little bit more you’ll end up on the floor

I’m definitely buying more than drinking. For me to consume at the rate of purchase I don’t think I could function nor would I be alive in a year or so. Which makes me ask myself why I’m doing this. I guess it’s just my obsessive and compulsive behavior. Lol

This time of year, holiday sales stress, and running around like crazy with will calls = 1/2 to 1 bottle a night. Usually, 1/2 to 1 bottle a week.

I usually finish a bottle every two or three days, unless…

I’m astounded at how little many of the members in this post drink. As one of the resident ‘pissheads’ here, I’m not admitting to how much I drink, but I hope the respondents here make up a small subset of the board. This place is called wineberserkers, not wineabstainers!

A number of years ago, the question was about how many bottles you open (and presumably drink) a week. You and I were well ahead of the pack. Or the only ones admitting it.

Sarah,

Like you, I enjoy eating as much as drinking. I find that the two compliment each other. I’m happy to have cranberry juice with my breakfast, but a wine or two at lunch or dinner is part of life’s pleasures. I don’t drink to get drunk, but I probably drink more than I should.

I’m with you entirely. I average somewhat over a bottle a day; maybe 2 or 3 days a month that I don’t drink at all. Kicking off this evening (as often) with champagne (to accompany some nice gravlax) and then some momos. Maybe just a couple of large ports to follow. My wife drinks, but less often these days - if she joins me then we’ll certainly finish 2 bottles. In the past we would often finish 3 between us.

I probably average about 2 glasses a day as of late; my partner and I can easily split a bottle a day. We’re in our 30s and I’m very aware that more and more, studies show that any alcohol is bad for you. I also love exploring wine and trying new things, so limiting myself is hard. I try to have a couple days a week where I’m not opening new bottles.

Luckily after a certain amount my body tells me to stop, and I do get headaches if I go too far. But I’m hoping once this hobby isn’t as new I tamp it down a little. Right now it feels a bit like a coping mechanism to get through the work day.
