How often and how much

Hello

I’m currently drinking two glasses of wine a night. I sometimes hit three. I know they say one to two is considered to be moderate drinking. Just wondering what the norm for avid wine aficionados is.

Two glasses per day is considered moderate.
I drank that much years ago but have cut way back for various reasons, right now two glasses per week.
I tend to drink more during gatherings with friends and family.
Even moderate amounts of alcohol can be harmful to your health so it is a trade off between something you enjoy and love and long term health. There is also probably a genetic factor involved with how your body tolerates alcohol.
I found by that after I cut back I enjoy wine more, you know too much of a good thing….

Depends on the size of your pour.

I aim for a bottle of wine per week

I’m 2-3 glasses (say 1/2 - 2/3 bottle) per night and have been most of my adult life, a healthy and happy enjoyment of wine. My father introduced me to this wonderful passion, he’s now 84 and still doing his 2x per night. The real question is how you feel and how you metabolize it. Everyone is different. I’m 6 feet and 215# with a higher-than normal caloric intake and high metabolism, so my consumption has no residual effect on me as far as I can tell.

Same here for the past few years.

I go in spurts; some days/weeks I don’t have any wine. If I do, a third to a half a bottle seems about right. I’ve cut out hard liquor for the most part though, which is fine by me.

My Wife and I drink about 2/3 a bottle each evening between the two of us.

My wife and I share a bottle once every two to three weeks. It depends on what food we’re having, how we are feeling (no alcohol if we’re fighting off a cold), what the occasion may be or other circumstances.

We are similar, we do that about 2-3 days per week.

As I thought the answers run the spectrum. I guess it’s an individual thing on how each person feels. I’m pretty big and workout lifting weights. I really don’t feel 2 glasses and it seems to relax me. I may want to try cutting that down. Having just really getting into wine I think I wanted to try as many as I could … lol. I don’t like to waste a bottle by drinking one a night. It’s hard to keep a bottle around for 5 days.

being ITB I only drink socially and not at home.

During the week I get to try interesting new things and have no desire to drink at home. My inner nerd sometimes doesn’t get fulfilled however, so I have a group of friends that meet up and we pop bottles. We go pretty hard, but this happens once a month at most.

I assume you work in the business ? That’s a good way to enjoy a hobby as well.

When I first saw this thread, I was a little ashamed to shared my personal consumption level. Then I saw this shameless revelation , and will now say that this is where I am, too. Am also much more physically active for my age and body make-up than the average, so that my consumptions, as far as medical checkups and consultations are concerned, do not have an effect on my health that is worth considering.

One major difference is that I savor my bottle more with maybe 6 to 7 pours for the amount.

yea,

It’s nice to talk to other WSET/CMS certified people while opening some cool wines as well as people who are like “this is tasty! YUM”

I find the mix entertaining.
