Thanks for the kind words! The 2023s are singing right now, we’re really pleased that those were our launch vintage. And for anyone who went in on some 2024s with BD16, everything that vintage touched is apparently magic.
FedEx took an extra week, but my JB Neufeld shipment arrived.
I popped open my bottle of Sun Break Rosé Vermouth, and wow is this stuff great. I intended on having a taster sip then making a negroni… and proceeded to pour about 3 more tasters. Very nice array of herbal bitterness, some orange zest notes, and has a perfect dryness to it. Went great in a negroni too, it subs in nicely for my usual carpano antica despite not being as sweet. @David_Patte did awesome work on this one!
Thanks Dan! This has been very popular— I am approaching being out of stock and making a new batch this year!
Following @grant_coulter’s guidance, I’m starting with the 2016 Bednarik Vineyard. I’m loving it after the first couple of sips. So happy with this new discovery.
2015 Tercero Mourvèdre was firing on all cylinders the other evening - testament to ageability of @larry_schaffer wines
Thanks my friend - that wine is still very much alive - was on the table at Falltacular this weekend and folks dug it!
Cheers
Sorry for my over-enthusiastic reactions but this was my first Berserker Day. And I feel like I’m caught in a never ending loop where each Berserker wine is better than the last.
On deck today is a Spätburgunder from @LisaT. I split a case of Tupetz library wines with @Mariano_Chiaramonte and @P_Bennett, which included tonight’s bottle.
The 2017 Hummel Estate Pinot Noir Reserve is in a great place right now. Whereas yesterday’s 2016 Hundred Suns Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir was more ethereal, this evening’s bottle brings both balance and vibrancy.
I am glad that you enjoyed it. Hummel Estates Pinots are pretty big compared to Bettina Schumann’s wines.
The Reserve Pinot Noir is a very small production, 3 barrels only. Cheers!
Tried these 2 BD purchases this week. Both were good mid week wines that went well with or without food.
2022 Extradimensional Wine Co “Partial Eclipse.” Billed as a mix of Mourvèdre, Petite Sirah, Carignane, Zin, and Primitivo. Lovely blend – no hard edges. I am not sure how to describe this wine. On the one hand, it seems weightless. On the other, it is rustic and dark fruited. It reminds me of a post-2000 Vieux Donjon, with all of the flavor but not the heaviness and alcohol.
Almost forgot: Yeah!
Six Cloves 2022 Castanon Zin. Absolutely loving this, 13.7% alcohol and really reminds me of Sandlands. Fruit forward and spiced, but light enough to drink in the middle of the week.
I bought a case of Six Cloves during BD15 and, when the dust settled after BD16, I was mad at myself for my failure to buy again. It was an oversight. Six Cloves wines are excellent.
Same, I didn’t buy any this year - definitely on the short list for next year.
You describe it perfectly! The ‘weightless but not light-weight’ quality is one that I prize and also find in Yeah! wines. ESJ wines had the same quality; I’m glad there is a replacement.
Thank you, Brad! You nailed the Partial Eclipse! I love that wine.
Hi @AmandaH ! I’m so glad you enjoyed my 2022 Zin! I poured a lot of this wine during my promotional visit to Japan this month, and it was a big hit there as well.
I’m about to ship out the final batch of the BD 16 shipment next week, and I’d love to offer you a special discount if you’re interested. Just send me a PM and let me know!
