Dupuis bankruptcy auction

FWIW it the winery site and estate vineyard have been on sale for a while now. I’m actually pretty surprised it hasn’t sold, might come encumbered or something along those lines that makes it difficult. Actually seems like a steal of a price: 8851 Ravens Pike, Boonville, CA 95415 | MLS# 323031873 | Redfin

If you are really going to be helping out the teams here, I will suggest you take payment up front, to ensure your participation isn’t going to waste.

If you would, I am willing to sent you the money up front (If you are bidding for yourself as well), and have you bid/pick for me, and of course, with certain amount of compensation of your request.

However with my limited space I can only participate 2 cases top, so unless we have a whole group that is willing to chime in, I guess I wouldn’t want to trouble you with such little request.

Why not just donate to Wells directly? Wouldn’t that be a better way of truly helping? I know his go fund me page is still up.

Not saying purchasing these wines is not a bad idea - but if the idea is to help him out, either donate directly or offer more per case knowing it’s going to him and not just ‘a deal’?

Cheers

This seems to exclude us regular guy WBers from bidding on the wine. Is anyone reading that differently or does anyone have some experience about those permits and licenses?

My assumption is that all of these items are being auctioned by Dupuis’s creditors, not Wells himself. So I would hope nobody is under the illusion that the proceeds are going to help Wells directly. The gofundme would certainly be a better venue for that.

That was auction 2 of 3, cases of shiners and wine in barrel. We can’t bid in that.

Auction 3 of 3 is the 350 cases of PN with no buyer restrictions.

I got a PM suggestion last night that was pretty cool. Seeing that the pricing on this wine is probably gonna be well below retail perhaps foreach case of wine purchased at auction the winner also goes to the Wells Guthrie go fund me page and donates $25-50/case.

I think this makes a nice combination of (1) get some of the great wine Wells made into the hands of people who will appreciate it (something I’m sure he would want) at probably a crazy bargain price and (2) help out Wells outside of the bankruptcy process.

@Brian_Tuite I’m in!

If @Brian_Tuite is going to pick up the wine that we all win separately, has anyone thought about how they are going to release the wine to him without you actually being there? The below is required for pickup.

REMOVAL INFORMATION:
Bring Copy of PAID Invoice, ID and Credit Card used for Payment

Or is @Brian_Tuite going to be bidding, winning AND picking up for us? He has already said no to that above.

Figure it out folks.
I’ll pick the wine up for you, but you need to:

  1. Set up your own bidder acct
  2. Attach your own credit card to it
  3. Go into acct settings and set up autopay
  4. In settings check the outbid notifications boxes
  5. Place and monitor your own bids
  6. If you win fill out the release form for me to pick it up
  7. Let me know I am picking up your wine (copy of invoice) what to do with it after that. Ship or cold storage? Extra cost involved either way. 1-6 above took me under 10 minutes.

I have a day job so I can’t babysit cases of wine and it’s hot this time of year so you have to have a plan. Pick up day after the auction is Wed July 30th. I have limited space in my cellar.
If there are people who want weather hold shipping I can post a list if cold storage facilities in the area. You have a week til Auction open and 2+ weeks til pick-up. I’ll accommodate as best I can but this is really up to you so do your homework.

Maybe once people get their accounts set up, we can make a roster of usernames so we’re not bidding against each other.

Some auctions I have attended that have multiples of identical items let the winning bidder chose how many lots they will take at the high bid price. Then the bidding starts again for the remainder, if any. Sometimes the bidding gets higher for the later lots, sometimes lower. I inquired of West Auction if that is how the procedure will go, and got an answer that, no, each lot will be bid on individually. With 350 cases to go through, bidding could be tedious and lengthy.
Or maybe I got an inaccurate answer. Bidding by individual case pretty much precludes letting anyone else handle a consolidated bid.

There was smoke. Paul at Halcon and two other winemakers with vineyards in the valley itself both confirmed a few nights where smoke settled in. Some people chose to make wines and others did not. Not saying these wines have problems, but a fair number of people did not make red wines.

I stand corrected, but I’ll still buy. Wells was in the deep West end of the valley with plenty of coastal influence.

Brian, I’m in Santa Rosa and would be a bidder and I will help you with the pick up.

John, that’s so great of you.

I would also say I think the best and most effective way to help Wells and Kate is to contribute to the go fund me site.

Obviously nobody can force anyone to do anything here, but can we build a general consensus of $25-50 per case to the GoFundMe?

How cheap do you think these may go? I would think they have some value to an outlet (or even a restaurant) well above $3 a bottle if they are labeled.
