Has anyone taken a 478 for the team?
I’ve had a few, purchased 2 cases. It it drinking really well now, I find with an hour or so of air the 17’s are relatively approachable.
Lot 411 is my all time favorite dn wine. This offer is very tempting.
maybe Dierberg Pinot Noir, Drum Canyon Vineyard
$65, 2020 vintage web page begins with notes of “Spiced Cherries, Mulberries…”, received a 94 from Jeb Dunnuck
2019 mentions “thick skinned” fruit twice, “nearly 40% new French oak”
What about one of Pinots from Ken Brown? They have been around 14% alcohol, use 100% french oak, sell for $65-ish and have a bunch of WE reviews between 92-94…
Also, Dierberg JD review (which is the source of the “Spice black cherries, mulberries” notes) ends by saying “…will keep for 10-12 years…”
296 would definitely be long term cellar worthy IMO
I couldn’t resist. I’m in for a case of 512. I think I’ll let it soak for a few years.
I just had the 2nd bottle of my 296 six-pack tonight to consider if getting the ‘23, and while it has developed from my first, I’m going to call it not my style. Way too much RS and not enough buffering acidity. Or is it the other way around?
Interesting . . .
Are you generally sensitive to sweetness? Black coffee, right? ![]()
Cheers
Larry,
I like my coffee dark with just a bit of sweetener no cream- what does that do for my 6 Pack of Lot 296?
Cheers, Tim
Well . . .
It tells me that you are most likely very sensitive to sweetness. My guess is that if you drink champagne, you are more partial to extra brut or no dosage. Close?
Cheers
Did anyone order lot 505, receive it and try it yet?
Last day to order at T1 price.
Received and popped a bottle last night of my 6-pack. Thought it drank very nice right out of bottle maybe after an hour. Typical oakville style, but some restraint, (still some minor red fruit notes and slight acidity backbone). I was thinking about grabbing some more. At $100 maybe, at $25 it was killer imo.
Yeah! Espresso, iced americano or pour-over, no milk, no sugar.
I’d say I have an old-world palate and need at least some structure. I’ve enjoyed most of the dN Pinots, but I was missing at least some of that Santa Rita Hills acidity on this one.
@JDutko How do you find the “last day to order at T price”? TIA.
Interesting - and spot on. I would think you’d lean more towards Oregon, Sonoma Coast and Burgundy when it comes to pinot - but Sta Rita Hils could be in your hot spot, depending upon producer and style.
Cheers

Larry,
Yes sensitive to sweetness and bitterness. I used to make beer years ago, the hops (bitterness) balanced the residual sweetness (from malt) in those big IPAs and to an extent delicate lagers. Beer has that “more filling” less dry than wine. Switched (back) to dry red wines, and even today, a Budweiser is “bitter” to my tastes. Bonus for wine drinking was less trips to the bathroom. ![]()
Cheers, Tim
I had assumed that 505 was an easy pass because I have so much oakville dN cab already, but other than the much maligned 400 (are people coming around on this?) I don’t really see any. Was there any good sleuthing done on this one?
