Yea but the label of the original winery is much prettier so there is that …
Waiting for @larry_schaffer guess….
I’m not much in the guessing department…mostly I’m good for poetry and random observations and lots of typos….but this one does have a lot of similarities to lot 296. Higher etoh content and a similar amount of French oak. Think that one was labeled as Sanford Winery & Vineyards…I don’t know if we can depend on similar connections between old and new ownership but that may be a start?
14.2 is high for a Pinot? I mean slightly - but that number doesn’t mean much.
A challenge with guessing is that many producers have not released their 2023s yet - like Sanford. I would be looking at retail price - that’s relatively high for our area.
I’ll look around a bit more tonight after the game . . .
Cheers
Not to get off track, but dN has filed a few new label registrations with ATTB, all the way up to lot 529. There is a lot of 2023 wines coming, including a few interesting offers from Paso Robles along with this surprise!
@B_Bauer a Tannat!
Love Tannat! That’s an exciting possibility depending on the cost.
Castoro makes a Tannat from Paso Robles.
Didn’t Courtney buy Vina Robles?
The last Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir I purchased was Lot 296 / 2021 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir @ $13 / $60 QPR. Today’s Lot 512 Sta. Rita Hills 2023 Pinot Noir goes for $14.92/ $65 per bottle which includes shipping. Interestingly, today’s write-up description includes the following, ~ it’s an obvious cellar stalwart over the next decade plus which also was analogous to the unusual long term aging potential for Lot 296. Pretty close in cost as in the ‘good ole days’, if the source is similar. Sorry, our Lot 296 has not been opened, so no comments can be made on that PN offer. / Thank you J. Dutko for pointing out that there have also been other Sta. Rita Hills PN offered; as, L 411 and L 412 ($19+/$80 bottle).
Don’t forget lots 411 and 412.
In for a case of 511 and 512
I purchased a sixer of 296 and my biggest regret was not getting a full case of it. We had a get together at our place last fall and opened one of these and it was a huge crowd pleaser. So much so that there were only 2 left after the party. I also purchased 411 and would have done 412 except they were released withing days of each other and they would not split a case of them. Anyway, 411 was also a fine bottle but not even close to 296.
Has any tried Lot 304 2021 SRH Pinot Noir?
Yes. See CT for notes.
in for a case of 512. First purchase in awhile. Have a feeling this is going to be a good one.
Lot 512:
Chanin Zotovich Vineyard rated 93 points JD for 2021 vintage, $65 retail price.
Chanin produces a S&B Vineyard that is rated a bit higher and price higher. Me thinks the vintner would be loathe to cut loose your best, highest rated vineyard wine - at first.
Thoughts?
Still pretty young, but I’ve really enjoyed every bottle of 304 that I’ve opened
