De Negoce offer (Part 2)

Did you skip the first 20 pages of part 1!

No, but I did read it a long time ago. Back then, this was more variety!

Well, isn’t this something that you’re looking for in some of these more expensive wines - the ability to age? They should still be ā€˜drinkable’ young but should evolve over time, no?

Can you explain what you mean that improving with time is not going to happen? Curious to hear how you’ve come up with this? Cheers

I haven’t bought in a long time but I am surprised at the enthusiasm for bulked NDA 2022 Napa Cabs. Without clear hints at the winery or pick dates, it’s a much bigger gamble than the 18s or 19s previously offered.

I don’t taste anything that would ā€œdevelopā€ over time
reminds me of some Walla Walla Cabernet over the years
the first bottle of a case is always my point of reference
been doing that long before dN

So no noticeable acidity? No noticeable tannins? Did you try some on Day 2 or even Day 3?

Just trying to understand

Cheers

Just to jump in…I bought 3 cases of Betz Cab recently for $18 per. That’s a wine that when you pop it says I need time. Deep concentrating power with ample tannin that is hiding the depth in the wine.
I’ve had most every dN WA wine and I can’t think of one that I’ve felt like is hiding anything. They are plush and ready to drink for the most part imo.

dude, I’m not a taster
no acidity, no tannin, no oak…smooth
I’m a drinker
and I don’t think you are trying to understand LOL

I am trying to understand - that’s why I’m asking the questions.

Cheers

500 arrived about an hour ago. Cool to the touch. Unless I hear otherwise, I’m probably going to bury this in the cellar for a while.

Maybe it’s because I’m politically brainwashed from getting my worldview from the woke media, but I don’t think pricing is really that much higher. I opened my first bottles of 200 and 241 yesterday and I feel like once you factor in the shipping that we paid back then, the discounts for those were no better than what we are seeing in whatever they’re calling 496-500. The difference seems much more about the guesses we were able to make back then. I feel like with the free shipping and loyalty discounts the prices are ā€œgoodā€. I just feel like we might be buying the equivalent of wtso’s 80% off cabs that I’d never heard of that looked like they were bottled solely for the purpose of being marked down 80% on wtso. For those of you who haven’t tried them lately, 200 is amazing and ready to go with a good decant if you like opulent napa cabs. 241 is probably better in my opinion, but I’m giving my other bottles a couple more years to sleep.

definitely disappointed that your initial impressions of 497 were bad. I’m no taster either, so my solution is to just ignore all of these wines for years. The problem is storage comes a significant cost. I’ll hold out hope that 497 will do it’s thing and come around, but you’re making me feel better for passing on 496 and 500.

Delicious wines may seem expensive in fiat currency.
Delicious wines may seem inexpensive ($1/bottle) using sound money. :moneybag: :+1::wine_glass:

So I should buy wine with my rare coins? All I know was all in lot 200 was not as good a discount as 497. Much worse if you factor in that Geodesy is discounted elsewhere regularly. It was still almost certainly a better deal.

I DO agree, the price is ā€œgoodā€. I’m still happy here. Points, etc.
Shopping around elsewhere, and not seeing as much value, these do seem like good values.
#200 is extra great & I look forward to #497. :yum:
BTW, Don’t sell your coins, unless you need the money……
Just a Different yardstick for measuring……

Oh yeah!

You buying this one?

Most likely not, just because I am so full and bought 4 of the others, but man it looks nice. Price is much better and the description sounds delicious, all that dark fruit and graphite. Plus you see they say ā€œdirect from the wineries barrels.ā€ Could be a winner for the less full without the Napa ā€œtax!ā€

ā€œProduced by a multigenerational Alexander Valley family producerā€

I wonder who?

$199/case delivered…Robert Young???
