That’s the beauty of living 3 counties away from the shiping company. It could be 100F and the wine ships late afternoon to Fed EX dsitribution center, ships out early AM (2) and arrives in my local center by time to get on truck for noon delivery.
As I was looking to see if my 497 shipped I noticed I had a case of 472 on summer hold. Did anyone receive that wine and solve the shiner mystery? I am sure that was discussed previously but I don’t know how to efficiently search this thread. I was certainly in the can’t be AO Prop red and called cab.
472 is unfortunately just a blank natural cork - no branding to indicate its origin.
Is it good?
Lot 497 arrived today around noon.
Happy Friday All.

I would say “without difficulty” fetching > $200 a bottle then? You know just to beat a dead horse again.
Cheers, Tim
Ok, you are opening, tomorrow, right? ![]()
Scott,
No. Feeling the Diamond Mountain vibe tonight so opened Og N.40 Cabernet. Last glass was > an hour ago, the tannins still won’t let go. First of 18 bottles. Oh man.
Cheers, Tim
In other words, they have no difficulty finding people on their allocation list who will pay over $200 for it. I’m going to speculate that the wine sells for around $250, far enough away from $200 to keep the winery happy,

Me thinking about Lot 496….
N.496 is listed
Interesting. Gotta say the price jumps are too rich for my blood. Last order i placed was for n.444 (Pinot) back in April, to use up my rewards points. Can’t see jumping back in if this is the trajectory.
Hope everyone enjoys though! I am guessing these are still good deals, but my calculations of whether it’s worth it have really changed in light of new prices.
In for 1 for 496.
In for two cases. I love BDX blends.
Oddly enough, i got an email that both orders were “flagged for non-compliance mostly likely due to state volume limits.” They asked me to respond back. Will let everyone know the result, but never saw that before.
Update: I exceeded my 12 case limit per person per year to GA. So they are shipping the wine to my wife at the same address!
Passing on this. Not as compelling of an offer as I had hoped.
Agree… the recent prices are just too high and makes it less fun to take chance on an unknown wine.
Well, when I search JD website for “Propietary Red” and search for say those which have the highest number of ratings, sort out those which are > $120, < $200…you land on Blackbird Vineyards Contrarian. mid 90’s scores price range $135-$150ish. It could work for Lot 496.
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Tim
Likely, I guess. We know dN had a relationship with Blackbird when they sold a ton of their inventory years back, unless I am mistaking my memory.
Leaning towards a pass here. There is nothing to go on to fuel a guess. However it is “simply class” and I do like class. The Blackbird guess makes some sense, but how often do they use Malbec or PV in their blends?
You are correct- much of the inventory was bottled in magnums
In for a case, have passed on last couple so have some dry powder. Likely enough of the ‘22’s for me
