De Negoce offer (Part 2)

I’m tempted, but struggling a little with the math on a 2022 having had 24 months in barrel.

David,
Welcome.
24 months might be once it’s bottled? Likely PS gets picked very late to acheive phenolic ripeness. So picked in Late Sept in RRV? Down here on Central Coast we held until late October if possible. So 20ish months of barrel aging? One of the best PETS I’ve had was a 2006 Moshin RRV PETS in 2021. 15 years past vintage. These big PETS from RRV can age really well. By the time you pay taxes on a case, this is still less than $20 a bottle for a wine that can really wonderful is say 6 years plus time.
Cheers, Tim

Thank you and fully agreed it should be a wine that will live a long time in bottle. My question is how a 2022 vintage that as you said was likely picked in September 22 and put in barrel in October 2022 could be bottled in August 2024 and have the advertised 24 months in barrel. Either the vintage is off or the amount of time in barrel is off, which makes me a bit skeptical of the overall description.

If it was put in barrel on 10/30/22 and taken out on 9/1/24, that may qualify as 24 months!!! Don’t know the law. Either way 22-24 is darn good for a PS, IMO! Cheers! :wine_glass:

PS - Lot 491 RRV Sauv Blanc has also got to be Foppiano. It’s just got to be, you can see the similarities in the winemaking description.

John,
Maybe. Price and ratings I can locate in a 2 page search don’t add up. My 2 bits.

Cheers, Tim

The description of Lot 491 says it’s 100% stainless fermentation while the Fopiano description says 15% was barrel aged. I’m tempted by 491, as I’ve really enjoyed the 460 RRV SB.

I’d say the build up for 495-501 has been fairly slow (easy to decline) I’m interested to see what those Napa reds offer end up being. I assume they will be mostly 2022s so it’s going to take a lot for me to bite on more than lot 500 ( I do feel like many of us will need to keep the 100 streak alive even if we have too much wine). Hoping that the 2024 Napa red harvest goes well so there will be a good back to back harvest requiring lots of 2023 “right sizing” opportunities.

Good catch, this may be the “extra” aged in stainless that they had left over after blending. And the price doesn’t fit, but we know they fudge sometimes! :man_shrugging:t3:

I’m going to be looking for the “multiple of 100” hype like Cam used to put out. Remember how he would email us a day before the 300 or 400 and tell us to buy before they sell out, implying that they are really good. I seem to remember him mentioning the great quality of the 100 multiples quite a number of times in the days and weeks before they were released, then later tell us what lots almost made the cut for a 100X. If I don’t see something similar soon, I’m figuring the 100 multiples are now no better than the rest.

One thing I seem to notice about Cam’s 100s is they usually were much more expensive than other lots and so of course will tend to be better.

That’s wild. I’ve never tried their wines, but the entry level PS and a white are usually available at my local Costco.

When do you think the next x% off sale is going to take place and what wines will be included? I know it’s just a guess, but it might play into decisions made on purchases based on the current offers being promoted.

I’d assume there will be something this weekend.

Cameron used to do 25-30% of holiday weekend sales, but unless I’m missing dN emails from last year, they didn’t do a specific Labor Day sale in 2023, but a few one off 15% off or Tier 1 pricing specials.

I miss the day when it was 30% off the entire site, rather than “up to” 20% off select wines.

We’ll see, I could use a Sauv Blanc restocking. :joy:

Sipping a n.69 “Prideful” Merlot now. Great how it’s mellowed from release, but could definitely wait a few more in cellar.

Anyone have guesses on which Martin Ray portfolio company lot 489 Chardonnay comes from?

Seems like some clues here, any source guesses? I know that Robert Mondavi “The Estates” SB has been guesses on previous Napa SB offers and it is a $50 wine.

Mondavi makes sense. I’ve never had that one, but Groth SB ($65 retail) is best Napa I’ve ever had and this seems like a similar style. Cream over Grass, I’m in.

Seems like today has broken my buying Moratorium, almost 3 months. Full Pull Redacted 99 is for sure worth a look too, imo. $30 for a $60 Willamette Pinot Noir.

The previous offers that were thought to be Mondavi specifically said fruit from Stags Leap, which this one does not. Any other ”flagship” white $50 a bottle SB guesses from Napa?

John,
Lot 413 SB was identifed as the “Estates” due to specifically using Stags Leap District and price point. It’s a 2022 also too. Lot 413 sold for $139 case delivered.
Lot 475 is $199 delivered with same original price point of $50. I liked getting that 413 at $139 a case. Might have to try first one this week.

Cheers,. Tim

Next week there will be a “special announcement”. Something “big is happening”.

Doesn’t seem like it’s lot 500. But I guess it could be.
