De Negoce offer (Part 2)

I have just signed up on Wine Spies and have a case coming soon.

Can someone catch me up on what will change with CH leaving? Ive never bought DN, but reading back through this thread, it may have been a mistake

Charlie - the news of Cam departing is all pure conjecture, supported with plenty of circumstantial evidence (and some filings as well). Surely it is being managed out of Martin Ray…

You’re going to have to wait for the lifetime movie. Actually it will probably be a mini-series. Shit, it could be multiple seasons.

And Yes, it was a mistake missing out on many of the early vino from dN. Some of the very best QPRs ever (with the exception of those occasional hidden auction gems). Lots of quality juice - rarely stupendous, rarely disappointing…high quality as confirmed by numerous good palates.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for Lot 432?

I found a really great match, almost perfect actually, until I saw that it wasn’t Merlot, but a Grenache blend

I’d agree with most of this, but it does depend on your existing cellar and being able to navigate the offers, imo. This group, denegotiantes ( a website created specifically for dN wines), and CT notes really helps separate the wheat from the chaff. I have had quite a few duds, but many more recent wins, Napa Cabs especially, so not sure how early buyers of all futures have fared. Yeah, some good wines, an occasional great wine, but some clunkers that take up room, and even though inexpensive, can be a waste of cash.

Oh, another plug for Full Pull redacted series. Today’s Columbia Valley Syrah at is a doozy, $40 winery price, now for $12, original label from 2018 so ready to drink without bulk wine or futures uncertainties, all other perks of Full Pull, allowed to buy singletons, build a case for bulk shipping, etc… Someone will figure out which winery it is. I’m not a buyer today since I have 7 cases pending there and lots and lots of WA Syrah in my cellar (and backyard).

Lot 409 Napa Valley Cabernet, direct to bottle shop. $38 -15%.
OK, might be a good deal…
Typesetter, a known quantity, is on Vivino for $30, all Cellartracker scores in the 90s.
The only reason I would buy Lot 409 is if there were something else in the bottle shop that I absolutely needed, and could get the 15% discount, which there isn’t.
Please, convince me otherwise.

I received a request to review a wine I’ve never publicly talked about here, nor on CellarTracker. I have not tried it before.

@Chris_C_a_r_y, was it you who recommended Full Pull on here in the past? Thank you for that. I’m on the email list now. Looks fantastic!

You are welcome. The Full Pull thread sleuths have deduced the wine offered yesterday, Redacted 81, is 2018 Lauren Ashton CV Syrah. Full Pull - #233 by M_Mager? It’s helpful to follow that thread on Berserkers as some experts there always figure it out.

409 Napa Cab, Atlas Bench is out today. The futures price is really $32.30, listed as $38, but you automatically get 15% discount when loaded into the cart. Is this a new way of selling these futures? Any guesses as to the source of this juice? Seems $75 winery price marked down to $32.50 plus shipping is not as large as historical marketing discounts? Didn’t they used to be 70-80% off tasting room price!!!?? Is that a question? Why am I asking so many questions of myself?

I paid $299/case plus shipping and tax for futures.

Full Pull sounded interesting until I got a response of shipping cost to the east coast, ~ send cases only at $67 each.

Welcome to post-Covid shipping costs…tbf Paul and FP team will offer PNW wines you will likely never see on East Coast. Worth perusing as the $5 a bottle is easily made up in the discounts offered.

That is actually quite reasonable - I know that so many are used to heavily discounted shipping costs but true costs for most wineries to ship to the East Coast are even higher than this, taking into account packaging materials, etc . . .

Cheers

I agree with @Kris_Patten in general on FP and access to PNW wines not available “back east”. I would not recommend buying too many import wines via Full Pull, unless you are like some of us, who can pick up the wine in SoDo.

Caveat that today’s aMaurice offer is not a great discount. aM will be moving their inventory at much better discounts winery direct over the next year, including this Cab. The advantage of course of FP is the ability to build a mixed case, onesies, twosies over the course of weeks/months.

Of course, once you start doing that it is easy to be trapped into “Oh, I need to fill a case”, or “oh, I’m now on another case since allocations didn’t match requests”. That is why I now have 75 bottles pending at FP.

yes, it’s pretty painful as I unpack to be tossing shipping boxes into the recycling, knowing that I paid close to $10 each for them (in lots of 100), but they’re the uline ones that are good for movers, but not for shipping UPS, so I doubt I can give them to wine stores.

Lot #409!!!
Do you really want to name a wine after a cleaning product?
(all in good humor)
