Are you both receiving emails for these review requests? I haven’t received any review requests and trying to understand why! Are these for recent purchases? Any for those more than (say) 3 months old?

I’ve only gotten them recently, last few weeks, but I’ve only been back in the water since Black Friday sales. I’ve gotten 2, maybe 3, emails from support@denegoce.com. They have been on wines that I’ve posted good public notes on CellarTracker and linked on Berserkers as well. It will be interesting if they ask about Zibibbo which I rated an 85. Content looks like this…
Hey Christopher,
Thank you so much for choosing denegoce.com! How was your glass of Lot 230 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain 750ml? Earn $5 in rewards points for reviewing your favorite bottles.

Is Cameron Hughes still involved or did he sell?
He is no longer involved, unfortunately

I’ve received quite a few review requests but strangely only about wines I’ve publicly mentioned positive things on this board. Go figure
So I’ve ignored all of them. Not sure how I feel about getting paid to write reviews of specific wines…

I had a similar thought after I cashed in my $10/15. But I had already written my reviews prior to the payola, so I’ll spend it guilt free. I wrote a wine blog for a while, and would never accept free wine. But I did take industry discount if offered. Same concept sorta.
@Margo_Smith -
I got them on my recent BF and xmas purchases. In my case, they were not tied to any Cellar Tracker reviews.
The researchers pegged the 399 for Wilson’s Reserve Cab, which is a pretty good guess…and the CT reviews of 399 are strong (for Dry Creek cabs). But the notion of 2020 (less reliable vintage) and the presumption it is a “higher-end” estate Cab run in the face of the 399’s reserve status (if correct - then again, many wineries label “Reserve” for their best barrels after all is done). Hmmm…not a raging bargain…keeping powder dry.
I’m glad you said this because at first it seemed that they were selectively inviting reviews, which would be appalling! I made both BF and Xmas purchases, as well as 2 recent futures (to try them out in this new world…) and it’s not really clear why I haven’t been invited. Ah well. Thanks for the deets, all!
I believe the small consensus was that this lot 404 Dry Creek Cab was Mazzaco Reserve Cabernet, which someone said was a great wine.
I was quoting from the denegociants website, which I took to be the best prognosticator…in either case, made by the same hands (Mazzoco and Wilson are joined at the hip (sorta))
My box of 227 from the winter case blowout came today and of course we had to try it. Great wine, and we don’t usually like cab sauv. Cam’s notes of corriander and cherry are spot on. Very savory. And yes I drink my coffee black. Thanks for the recommendation guys!
Regarding reviews just stick straight.
Red wine with contemplative mouthfeel. Finishes with personality. It is fun to drink.
(Don’t say this wine is fun to drink of course)
Or go the gobbledygook path
This Cabernet Sauvignon dazzles with a flibber-jabber of zibber-zabber, revealing a mishmash of wobble-wabble fruitiness and a higgledy-piggledy finish that leaves the palate topsy-turvy.
I have received three requests and they are all on wines I have made at least purchased twice separately.
FYI, regarding the $5 review credit: your review will only be requested IF you purchased that wine from the Bottle Shop.
Makes some sense, they are then deemed to be past bottle shock. Not a Future fresh off the truck….
Not sure how they actually choose ‘em? Maybe wines still in inventory/hidden inventory?
Happy Friday!
Interesting, thanks Scott! Yes, maybe the wines I purchased from the Bottle Shop weren’t deemed priorities for reviews? Not sure. I’ll just hope to be selected eventually! Happy Friday!
Oops. Wrong thread.
So CH is gone, who’s in charge now? They don’t ship to DE so haven’t purchased any wine from DN in a while?

So CH is gone, who’s in charge now?
The folks from Martin Ray.
Apparently, Tough times for wine producers?
Our Nephew is one of these Naked producers. Under his label…DOH!!
Does “crisis” lead to Opportunity??

The US wine industry is in crisis
For lots of reasons. Major slowdowns post-COVID, the economy, global export battles… they’ve made a string of terrible luck. What’s most critical to know is that markets are flooded — as a result, winemakers are really struggling to move wine. If nothing changes, they will go out of business.

IMO the next 18 months will be better for the Garagiste, Last Bottles of the world set than for dN as there will be a glut of higher end wines in bottle. Particularly imports.
