De Negoce offer (Part 2)

First case sale announcement came in last night at 9:00 PM EST via SMS cell phone text according to Virginia dN friend’s appreciated note, but did not get email about the event until after 10:00 AM this morning (13 hours later). New case pricing did not show up in the ‘Bottle Shop’ last night or this morning.

Yah it was there last night. Early in the evening, we posted about it on the board.

Yes. I received a SMS last night. If I get one tonight I’ll post immediately for those not getting them.

PSA: you can search for “case” or “12-pack” to see otherwise unlisted stuff

The text message said specifically that it was being sent early to those that have subscribed to messaging and that it would not be available to the wider list until the next day. It was a feature, not a bug.

I think that this USED to work on the old site (pre-cameron departure).
But now, this search method does produce results although not all are available. And sadly there is no indication of what is or is not available without clicking on each one.

Still works but yah it’s not as easy. The ones that are “real” are at the top. The rest aren’t. Just need to click a couple times to see if the ones at top or 2nd row are real. But once you get one that’s not - all the rest to the right and below are not.

Thank you @MatthewT - I got 302 results which seems a bit high… But appreciate the instructions !

If anyone has a bottle of 355 in their cellar, open it up and share your review for the good of the group, please! 105 bottles “in cellars” on CT.

All,

I think it is simpler than that. If you put in “case,” here is what you get:

It works. Right now everything in top row is available as case and everything in 2nd row until 320 then NOTHING BELOW.

they have a scrolling banner for the case sale which produces the same result.
But I suspect we will see each days’ case posted here.

I actually asked around a bit on the mysterious Pete Davidson thing a while back and I spoke to a woman I know who seemed to have legit second hand info. You are right on two of the top three attributes, but apparently the main thing is that he “listens”, she went into more detail about it, but I kind of tuned out.

Don’t have this one but opened the 2020 vintage 343 tonight “for science.” I had only a single bottle from a mixed sampler.

As expected by cam’s description, big round dense fruit and low tannins. Despite 15% abv the alcohol is not perceptible. I don’t particularly like the style, but I think those that enjoyed 239 (which I hated) would like this. This is turned down a notch on the oak and sweetness vs 239.

Hey new dN owner, what’s up? As you gear up for another deal, how about dropping a little holiday cheer on your awesome customers? We’d love to see some jaw-dropping domestic red specials to raise the festive spirit. Merry Christmas!!

Same reason we buy more Denegoce wine than we should… FOMO

Not sure how good this will be for the group and yourself, but I did it for you and I’ll give you what I got knowing what I’m working with currently.

So around 4pm EST I went over to our OG (mild pun intended) currently unoccupied residence on the other side of town where I’m hiding, I mean storing, all the dN wine that has recently dumped upon me. With no heat on, the interior, glassware, and wine is sitting at about 54 degrees currently. I PnP’d one of the four Lot 355 bottles I picked up on Black Friday sale. Mind you I have been sick with bronchitis and nasal congestion for over a week now, so one clear nostril was all I had at that moment. I could barely get the wine warmed up past 58 (yes, I used a quick read kitchen thermometer) in my cold hands.

In the glass it is dark purple, totally opaque. The few drippings from where I put the cork down stained the 50 year old Formica counter top. Slow creeping legs.
On the nose blueberries jumped right out and the only tertiary note I could pick up was some chocolate.
On the palate it was heat and tannins (medium + plus a little). I’d say the 15% noted is on the stingy side, this warmed my innards from tongue to tail. Low acidity. I honestly can’t give you a fruit profile, but it did have a long finish. After two slurps and not drinking wine for 10 days I was feeling fine.

After some errands I took it back to what is now home-home and decanted it for an hour and got it to around 64 degrees. I poured it into an actual piece of stemmed glassware this time, but to my surprise I could not smell any fruit. I handed it to my wife, who does not not drink wine (only tequila) but whose nose I relied on while I was doing some studies earlier this year. She at least smelled blackberries. Alcohol and tannins were the same for me.
Just to make sure I wasn’t being necessarily unfair to 355, I opened a 356 (I know they’re different terroirs) just to see what was going on with my sniffer. Not surprised, I couldn’t smell any fruit but I did get typical Syrah meaty/savory notes.

My conclusion, and not really going out on a limb here, this is a tight, young, high alcohol wine at the moment. And please take it for what it’s worth given my current state of yuck. I will hide the remaining three bottles for 3-5 years.
All things considered, its relatively low AUD price in the tasting notes, the fact I have a sixer of 353, 354, and 356, and a case of 349, I’m ok with the Aussies for now so I won’t be purchasing this case deal. I’m holding out and hoping for something more intriguing.

Hope this helps
