355 for $99 is a hard sell for those of us who got 354 for 99 a few months ago
Indeed.
I believe 355 (2021) is that same wine as 343 (2020). 343 is a good one to crack open and try, should be ready, though maybe still better after a day or two. If you like that, stocking up on the 355 makes sense. I quite loaded on dN Shiraz, but will consider more. I love it, and dNās import last Winter is a rare opportunity to stock up. Hmmm.
The allure of 350 is a mystery to me. Like the allure of dating Pete Davidson. First of all did we ever establish that when cam talked about the retail price of Australian wine he was talking US dollars, not Australian dollars? Bc a retail price of $300 aus is $200 USD. Second, is it crazy to think that $80 a bottle is quite a lot to ask for on an impenetrable wine that you should not open for many years? 216 was the other that I remember being billed as such and it was only $50 a bottle. Third the only review I recall was @Mikko_Tuomi (i think) who regretted opening it way too early and thus was not enjoyable but I donāt remember him saying it improved with a decantā¦.thought I know he had said later that itās one one the ones he think it will be great. I think Iād rather have put my hope in 216 than 350 (and I have neither)
355ā¦I am in for a case.
Agree, Iāve liked all of the Australia stuff. I just think we have lots of cases to come and they not starting with the best.
This is all so SPOT ON. I also wondered if he was using USD or AUS. Haha. But I had to buy 3 cause dN has never offered a wine that expensive. How could I not? Iāll try it years from now and will bring so much joy to my nearly dead self. But thatās the allure. If Cam has offered 300 lots and none >$50 and all of a sudden a $100 bottle how can you not buy 3? Anyway he suckered me into it.
The Pete Davidson thing is obvious. He is apparently funny (I donāt see it and I love standup) AND must be simply incredible in bed. I am certain of this. I mean I didnāt sleep with him but there is no other explanation.
I just havenāt enjoyed many Australian wines. Some are fine, but hav never had one that really impressed me. For that price, no chance.
They just cheap as shit. My expectations for an $8 red wine shipped to my front door is it doesnāt taste like it has bubbles in it.
Iāve had Velvet Glove, other Molly Dooker, and some really good Aussie Shiraz, Torbreck and another whose name I am forgetting. This wine is advertised as comparable to an entry level Molly Dooker, which is fine at $8 delivered. Tuesday night cellar defender, or if I donāt like it, throw it in with a BBQ sauce marinade.
eta⦠CT is great, the other Aussie Shiraz I enjoyed was Clarenden Hills. That and Torbreck were $40 wines. if this can deliver close to half that, Iāll be pleased.
In other news, I noticed this signature is still part of dN advertising. Hi @Cameron_Hughes !
Thereās a reason weāre the #1 DTC wine brand in the US
Minimum purchase of $99 is required to redeem credit
Oh itās just a style preference thing, not quality. Have had some nice ones and Iāve grabbed a few of the DN offers in 6ers that have been nice, but the idea of $120 on one seems crazy given the options at that range. Iāll take the WA wines of similar price over the Aussies any day of the week.
Alright, the next deal is in: lot 250 for $99/case
Jk folks, hope no one had a heart attack rushing to the websiteā¦
I got that āCABRIDEā coupon for 50% off #350 back in August, and $62.50 was still too much for such an unknown. Iāve got to think it cost Cam a bunch since it was still Limit 1 with the coupon. Iāll toss out a prediction that theyāll offer it for $49/each within the next few months.
Also in for another case at this price point. Just an amazing QPR wine.
One deal a day?
āKeep eyes on your inboxes for each dayās deal!ā
The email says āstarting at $99ā. Which made me wonder what Iād pay for 240 and 175. With the recent 30% off deal that means they would have been $159 deliveredā¦.i think Iād buy another case of either of those for $130 delivered . But I suspect that the sales will be mostly the $12 a bottle lots from 320-350s at $99 a case. But a guy can dream the it would be 240/175.
I think Iād also be in for a case of some the $35 Napas (194,199,232 come to mind looking at the list in the bottle shop) for $240 a case.
They should run a āmake me an offerā for a case day. That would be wild
Yah Iād guess one each morning but weāll be able to see it at night in the store.
They have generally been pretty generous with the blowout case discounts. Iād think would be at least the 30% off the store price.
