Hi everyone,
I’m glad to report that I was able to keep up with my menu book for 2024- just put the finishing touches on the final page last night. As I’ve written before, I started watercolor painting as a COVID hobby, and inspired by Jacques Pepin, I began commemorating special meals through illustrated menus. Here are links to some of the images from menu pages I made in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Like previous years, I made a total of about 50 menus in 2024. They’re not all here, just the ones that I particularly like for one reason or another. Also, I like that it’s bookended with wines made by two fellow WBers @Jason_L and @Sonoe_Hirabayashi.

I’m particularly fond of the abstracted pizza slices in the corners of the frame.
Thought these two consecutive pages looked nice together. The right side is a copy of Matisse’s Dance, along with the addition of a May Pole (for May Day of course).

I moved this summer and it was a lovely surprise when a bush in our yard put out huge stunning bright pink hibiscus flowers.

I recently learned about a Guatemalan tradition where people fly huge elaborate kits on All Saints Day. This is modeled after one of those kites.

Phew…posting all this took nearly as long as making one of these paintings! Thanks for the support with the last three iterations of this book; it gives me motivation to maintain the habit. Looking forward to drinking and learning with you all in 2025.
