is it? is it???
It actually looks ike a pretty cool sauv blanc if you’re into that kind of thing. The price point $45, musque clone, mix of neutral and stainless, and estate should make pinpointing the source feasible. If it’s not a bottling blend, it very well could be a piece of Cuvee Karatas from Bedrock. They might have had wild yields for 2025 and no one to buy the fruit and didn’t have the heart to drop it or let it hang. Who knows.
Just saying Merry Edwards writes of their Maefield estate vineyard: “In 2015, after significant prep work was completed, the site was planted to Sauvignon Blanc, despite the vineyard being on prime Pinot Noir land. (That is how seriously we take our Sauvignon Blanc.) The vineyard contains a mix of clones – two-thirds are Sauvignon Blanc Clone 1, known as Shenandoah, and one-third Sauvignon Musqué – so we have the exact ratio of the grapes we need. The 2018 vintage of our Sauvignon Blanc was the first vintage where we had the majority of the fruit come from our estate vineyards.”
Also, they mention on another page: “We are now farming all of Meredith Estate organically and intend to attain certification in the near future, but stewardship of this site has always included the use of sustainable, renewable farming practices”
The mark against Merry Edwards is recent datasheets suggest TAs near 5.5, not near 7 as this wine is, and they seem to imply full barrel fermentation. One possibility is that this is a Merry Edwards experimental batch where they did 2/3 in stainless steel combined with less MLF.
It sounds like $10 Merry. I’m in for 40 cases
I mean, it would be pretty off-brand of Merry Edwards. They definitely use some oak, not sure if any of it’s new. All that said, 2025 is such an unusual year that all it would take is a producer to not want to waste their grapes and then realize they are stuck with more wine than the can manage. Merry Edwards is a kind of dope sauv blanc, hate to say it. My guess is it’s not them.
The tasting notes Cameron gives don’t line up with Merry Edwards at all. I would put Merry Edwards solidly in the tropical fruit dominant notes camp and not citrus notes camp. No chance.
The citrus notes line up more with the style I prefer made by maayan koschitzky but I don’t know if he makes any wine for clients in that area. If it was one of his that would a banger of a Sauvignon Blanc.
I only had one Maayan’s SB creation from Mowe and gotta say it’s fire.
I recently got to try a few different of his from various brands he consultants for and the are all in a very similar style so if you like the Mowe sb, which is absolutely fire, find a few others he makes and you’ll most likely enjoy them as well. My favorite of his right now is the Gamble estate reserve sb.
Just sayin, I’ve heard from reliable sources a lot of grocery stores are having to slash prices to sell through their ME SB. Seems like prime distressed seller opportunity for a vulture like Cam to swoop in and buy some up.
chat gpt likes hamel family SB based on clues given, but all of their recent wines seem have 9-15% semillon. also says some amphora aging.
Bedrock tech sheet (below) states super high 56% musque clone for 2025, along with a new vineyard this year. Says neutral barrels but then some parts aging in 22% new oak…

Not sure if any of the above helps just figured I would share.
I think Gemini was pointing to Benziger but not sure if that’s the frank johnson or basic sav
That would be the only wine appropriate for an elite Friday winetasting! ![]()
I’d say other points against Lot 60 being ME are:
A) CamX states the grapes are “100% Sonoma Valley estate fruit”, which Forestville is not.
B) It’s not made in the ME style at all.
None are perfect, and Cam doesn’t mention it being the exact bottling blend, but Hamel or Bedrock seem much closer imho.
Logistics question - first time in 35+ cases of CamX received that I found a damaged bottle. What’s the typical solution?

Or, email support?
Sure, I’m waiting on a response from support…I’m just curious about other folks experiences with single bottle issues. I’m not looking to send back an entire case.
Why would you have to send back the entire case for a single bottle? They’ll offer to send you a replacement for the bottle that was damaged, or if that’s no longer available you could expect either a credit or a bottle of similar value. It should be very simple.
A single $15 bottle on 35+ cases? I’d recommend to chalk that sacrifice up to the deity of intracontinental shipping
I’m not sure lot 60 is for me, but SB is always in demand here and he really does lay it on thick about how good it is, so if in Cam we trust I guess it’s a buy. I guess my concern is that it’s overly fruity ala dN 79 which still hasn’t come around, but in my experience $45 CA SBs tend to be a bit restrained and $80 CA SBs are more likely to be an oaky fruit salad.
I thought this was a simple question: “what are typical solutions?”
If I receive damaged merchandise, I wouldn’t assume I need to eat it.
Hearing about replacements or bottle credits is helpful. (Credits would be better for everyone. Shipping a single bottle seems silly for sure.)
I’ll see what the response is when the AI mailbot responds. ![]()
