Cam X Wine Company

Agreed, though the discounts mostly have been large on the big reds, as Cam mentioned in the current market. Pinots and whites have been more like a quarter to a fifth of the list price. Still quite good, and ready to drink sooner.
Anyone out there have experiences with Malvasia Bianca???

And a PS:
I really like that Cam finds unusual grapes/wines for our varied enrichment.
Don’t know if I will buy this one. Hope someone out there has experienced it and will share.

There is also a fixed cost component. Handling, bottling, logistics etc. There is a lower limit on the price of a case. With whites being cheaper, the overall discount will be smaller even if the discount on the juice inside is the same.

I grabbed 6 and mixed with the rose. Need summer wines anyway and excited for additional varietals.

True makes you wonder about profit.

And the price he gets those big reds for vs something obscure like this white….

Paging Larry….he makes one!
Crazy to me that anyone still has vines in Napa. Totally a wine I would buy one of at the store to try, but not sure I want my Malvasia Bianca Napafied?

Very little experience here. What little experience I have suggests it’s kinda like a Reisling or Muscat, maybe crossed with Pinot Grigio? If it’s dry, my wife might like it? Enjoy! I’m passing….

I did not find #28 to be as flabby as you say. For me, Gewurz seduces me with florals and soft acid. It has its place with specific foods, not just asian. I don’t always want acid to be the predominate component. And for the price, it was lovely. Case is gone !

I do prefer a lot of acidity in my aromatic white wines. And this wine certainly feels like a bit unusual in not having much, as I’ve had fingerlakes gewurz that is to my taste. I set the wine out at thanksgiving alongside a German scheurebe and an Austrian riesling, and lot 28 certainly felt like the odd wine out.

That said, I get that it’s different strokes for different folks! Nothing wrong with having different preferences. But it sounds like we both agree this wine had soft acidity. The issue for me was mainly that it was described as “energized by terrific acidity” and “Mouthwatering, crystalline acidity” which made me think it would be something that it is not. Like I said, I’m not so sad as the total outlay is not much and I’ve had many other cam X wines I’ve enjoyed a lot more. But I’m hesitant on the aromatic whites for this specific reason. I’m probably going to make sangria with a squeeze of lemon with my remaining bottles of lot 28.

I completely echo your reactions to #28. The florals are good, but the lack of acidity strikes me as a lack of verve. Dull, tired and flabby. Not like the descriptions. Then again, Cam is getting an early impression of what the wine will be. Most are quite good.
Can’t please all the people all the time.

Agreed on lot 28, flabby. You want at least a little bit of acid with your whites, just to give it some lift, doesn’t have to be much. That wine has nothing but a flat palate. Beautiful nose, however!

@Cameron_Hughes, you did not address shipping lot 38 in your email. When’s that one shipping? I received my lot 34 and 37 last week, and then you jump to 40 in that email.

Lot 60 is up …

Meh

The is a 2025, which means it was only aged 6 months? Is that normal or light for an SB?
