Best deal/coupon for on-line wine shopping

Looks like the VC money dried up! Great run we had!

If we’re putting a nail in the coffin of the WDC glory days, which probably make up about 100/124 pages in this thread, I think I round of applause for Jin F is due for getting this started.

I keep holding out hope that the phoenix will rise from the ashes and they’ll hit us with a new round of 50/200s and 100/300s plus another 10-20% cash back. They’re selling Sassicaia ‘19 for $259 which I’ll grab a few of for ~$140 each. One can dream. One can dream.

Would love to see your math for how you think you would be able to pull off Sassicaia for 140 each.

100/300 is 33% stacked with another 15% from RMN? There was a time when that type of discounting was common.

I think the point is it’s only 33% if you buy something that is exactly $300. $100 off two Sassicaia’s at $518 is just 19.3%, and another 15% from RMN would be ~$177.66 per bottle.

**Edit - also depends on the RMN discount limit… a $50 limit could put that closer to $184 per.

+/- 50% discount was possible at several times during the run of good WDC coupons + good RMN cash back + Raise cards. During that run of 30% RMN cash back earlier this year you could definitely pay 50% of asking.

$259 full price:

  • $50 cash back (RMN maximum for a single purchase)
  • $50 (using a 50/250 code as an example)
  • $18 Raise (1% Rakuten, 6% cash back card)

$141 all-in. Could do better with a 100/300 code, though you’d need something to round out the order.

I feel bad for anyone who just discovered this thread.

Why would you use a $100/300 to make a $518 purchase? Part of the game was maximizing savings, which isn’t achieved by turning your 33% coupon into a 19% coupon. WDC sells more than just Sassicaia—just find something in the $40-60 range to hit the $300 minimum.

LOL - I don’t know why you would either, but you implied you would use a 100/300 to buy a “few,” and I didn’t assume there would be two 100/300 fictional codes. If buying just one, you would also have to add a $41 bottle that is actually something you really want, or you are just pretending to save 33%.

Some decently priced Bordeaux on WDC to use with the 50/300:

Chateau Haut-Bailly 2018 - $129.99
Chateau La Gaffeliere 2018 - $93.99
Chateau Pavie Macquin 2015 - $93.99
Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte 2019 - $106.99

Plus big 1% RMN cash back, woohoo!

You can double cash back to 2% using TopCashback

I ended up mixing together some Durfort-Vivens 2019 (750s) and some Phelan Segur 2019 half bottles. Three of each was $305.94.

BLISSFUL for 50/300 on WDC. Pretty sure this is a sign that 50/200 and 50/250 are no longer happening. The last few have been 50/300 and of zero interest to me without decent cashback deals.

Yep. They’ve diluted to 16%, and needing to hit $300, and with no meaningful cash back portal offers. It’s gonna be a no from me
